New Tie Interceptors Annouched "Earn Your Bloodstripes"

By CaliAlpha, in X-Wing

My question is: Is Star Trek Attack Wing enjoying the same kind of popularity as X-Wing? Not whether it is as good a game. My FLGS has a copy open on display, and I agree that the ships are 't quite as detailed and the cards are almost curled. But does this matter to Trekkies or are they buying it anyways?

I stopped by Past Present and Future Comics this weekend to look at Attack Wing. While there I asked why were they not carrying Wave 3 for X-Wing.

Per Past Present and Future Comics:

Star Wars: X-Wing has not had a release in a very long time, months at least. There is nothing new and not much released but we have Star Wars this weekend if you're interested.

When I explained to him I picked up my Wave 3 the week before; he told me I was wrong (???). If Star Wars was selling anything new he would be carrying it. Maybe Fantasy Flight might be coming out with a new release in October, maybe!!! I can check in a few weeks if I want.

And yes... after telling me that there are no new ships for X-Wing he did tell me how popular Attack Wing was and how great a game it is.

True story!

Sounds like a great store!

If it had been me and my FLGS had said that, I would have walked out to my car and brought in my miniature case and show them my collection of X-Wing ships, including 2 each of B-Wings, TIE Bombers, HWK-290s and Lambda Shuttles. Then I'd ask "Now what was that about FFG not releasing anything new for X-Wing?" with a smile on my face. And since his distributor seems to have a problem letting him know about X-Wing releases I'd also mention the Imperial Aces boxed set coming soon from FFG.

Sounds like they should change their name to "Stuck in the Past Comics."

They are NOT MY FLGS. When I spoke about so other stores they ragged on them saying they could/would have bought them if they has been worth it. Apparently Sci-Fi City, according to Past Present and Future Comics, is going out of business.

I had bought everything from another FLGS (as in a different game store that is local and friendly) which, by the way, still has plenty of stock.

I find it retarded that the Imps are getting an expansion all to themselves and yet FFG is already giving them more OP abilities. Can you say favoritism?

Yeah and the rebels only get two large vessels!
**** u FFG!!

No really you should look at the Tantive IV and the rebel medium

Transport coming with a custom X-Wing. While the empire gets only a few repainted interceptors...

Sounds like Past Present and Future comics are a bunch of liars or fools.

A people should know when they are conquered. Oh sorry, wrong period! :D

The expansion is not all just for Imperial either, lots of cards in there can be used by Rebels also.

You are aware that the Rebel Aces expansion is rumoured to be in the works and as has been mentioned in this thread, the upgrade cards are - with minor exceptions - for both factions?

You are of course also a player that is aware of the excellent internal balance in this game between the two factions, with neither of them being better or more "OP" than the other.

Your comment was therefore surely a programming error in your protocol Droid and based on that we forgive you! ;)

The ships are repaint and the upgrades are universal. Your crying favoritism about 4 unique pilots when the rebels have had two large and 1 small fighter release shown. Why don't we wait and see what is released first before we cry on the internet

Not all the cards can be used by both factions. Heck, some of the cards can't even be used by pilots on the imperial side that aren't talented enough. So, some of these cards are quite discriminatory!

That isn't the point. The point is buying the expansion helps rebel players too. Opportunist, and Hull upgrade especially.

Bingo!

I find it pretty funny that they announce the large ship expansion, and all of the Imperial players are all "boo! This is favoritism! Where are OUR big ships???" and then they turn around an announce the Imperial Aces pack with a bunch of new pilots, upgrades, and a couple of sweet repaints, and now all of the Rebel players are all "boo! This is favoritism - where are OUR aces and repaints???"

You guys are all nuts, you realize that, right? There will be big ships for the Imps. There will be aces packs for the Rebels. If it does well I suspect we're going to see aces packs for MOST of the existing ships at some point.

They JUST put out the 3rd Wave of expansion ships for this game, then immediately turned around and announced two upcoming expansions, at least one of which is coming out before the end of the year (2-3 months), neither of which is the inevitable Wave 4 expansion.

We are being so ridiculously spoiled with new content for this game that it's not even funny, and people are nitpicking about the fact that every piece of upcoming content is not perfectly, symmetrically, and immediately mirrored with new content for the other expansion. First world problems, guys.

I'm all for any and all expansions. X-Wing isn't about symmetry, it's about balance. And with the price tag on the new aces, I don't think they'll be out of balance with everything else put out to date.

I'm sure the CR-90 and Transport will be handled in the same manner. They will add exciting new options to game play without unbalancing it, regardless of the presence of imperial ships of the same caliber.

...You guys are all nuts, you realize that, right? ...

Well, yes. I know I'm at least a little crazy. So I have self-awareness going for me.

But you make completely valid points. FFG is really cranking out the product, and we are the beneficiaries. Enjoy it!

This.

Hard.
