Ideas on Non-Combat Challenges.

I would like to do something on Hoth...pre-ECHO BASE. PCs landing to deliver goods and needing to fly into a port an then transport goods to a remote base (perhaps under guise as scientific) and face a disaster that would tax their abilities to fix and to survive but not involve much, if any actual fighting. ...perhaps finding something really bad happening at the base and they need to rescue people. Thoughts?

Could it be forming Echo Base?

The players are unloading goods when a laser drill expanding the base hits a weak spot causing random cave ins. The drill team needs medical aid. The drill is over heating and going to explode. The players have to get out or help trapped players get out while missing falling ice, exposed wiring, and the exit is out an ice cave with bones, tall shadows, and loud animal roars.

I cant help but share this story. My party was hunting a bounty to be captured alive. He was a Twi'lek male who had a bad gambling habit. The crew couldn't find much info about him but found out about a local casino. They got suits. They hid their weapons. The driver kept the speeder ready in the lot. They spent a while trying to find him failing all their checks painfully. I thought the noncombat nature of the scene would make the combat heavy party think about their actions. Well the Human Marauder and the Trandoshan Gageteer come up with the idea to came some attention to make the target leave the casino where the Driver would be ready. They start fighting each other, throwing eachtother over tables, tossing chairs. In the chaos the target got trapped outside by the driver when he ran away as two muscle bound maniacs start yelling over who the bounty belongs to. I was so proud they got around noncombat by fighting eachother.
