noob question about going first.......

By nebulous8, in X-Wing

Hello, im just getting into the game and bought some ships. I was wondering if we have the same ship/pilot on opposite teams, then who goes first in activision phase and who attacks first?

lowest pilot skill moves first. Highest pilot skill shoots first

If two pilots have the same pilot skill, the one with initiative moves and shoots first. Initiative is determined by points (lowest points gets initiative) or, if the points are equal, the Imperials have initiative.

Person with the initiative (lower point total) moves and shoots first. If tied then Imps have initiative in casual games or in tourney play flip a coin to see who has initiative.

In cases of tied PS, the player with initiative both moves first and shoots first.

Thank you guys for your replies!

But what if..

What if both guys in a tournament has the exact same line up.

Let`s say that 2 Tie Swarms of 8 Academy pilots goes head to head. Both have the same pilots and the same 100 points. Both are imperial.

Flip a coin.

But there is sonething very important that no one has mentioned. If you shoot first with a pilot that has the same pilot skill as the enemy pilot, and actually kills him. The enemy ship will still be able to shoot at this initiative step and is only destroyed afterwards.

For Example Backstabber and Garven Dreis face each other. It's a casual game so Empire has initiative, both lists having 100 points. They both have pilot skill 6 so Backstabber has initiative. He shoots and kills Garven tgat was wounded from a previous turn. You don't take Garven away until after the pilot skill 6 step. He can still shoot at anything in his range and angle. So he might also even kill Backstabber before he dies.

The alternative to a coin flip, since you have dice: pick any number of dice and roll them. Most focuses has initiative (trivia: same number of foci symbols on both attack and defense dice). I like to use as many dice as possible to avoid ties.

.

Thanks!
