I'm new to the x wing game and I'm woundering weather I should double sleeve the cards or get them laminated . Two double sleeve them I'm woundering which brand and size sleeves do I need to get
X wing card sleeves
Sleeve the cards. Lamination costs a pretty penny and eventually turns yellow.
I only sleeved the damage cards. No real need on the other cards. No real wear on them.

Same here, except my Academy Pilots are a little more worn than everything else.
Pilot cards are sleeved. Damage cards are sleeved. Upgrades aren't.
Normal card sleeves for the pilot cards, they certainly don't need to be laminated or double sleeved. The small cards fit in the mini-american sized sleeves, iirc.
I sleeve every card that is used. You never know what may happen in the heat of battle. As I have 4 core sets, I don't sleeve my extra unique pilots or my extra damage cards unless they are actually used.
Aside from normal wear through handling, grime (and heaven forbid, drink spills) can ruin cards. I sleeve everything just to be safe.
Agreed, I sleeved all of mine, because you just never know. And sleeves are cheap. I recommend the Mayday Games sleeves in the right sizes. The FFG ones are nice, but a little stiff and slippery to my taste. And they cost more.
What are the right sizes to sleeve them or double sleeve them I plan to sleeve all of them as you never know what's going to happen
My gaming group has the motto "Bottle caps and Gaming card sleeves save lives". My everyday opponent is my 8 year old and he is in the clumsy stage so everthing gets protected.
If you ever played a game with my wife, you would sleeve them, you would sleeve them all so fast.
Uh, I know in the Mayday sleeves it's the green and the yellow, I think? The 'card game' size and the 'mini,'
I suspect double sleeving is more trouble than it's worth, since you'd have to get a size and the next size up or something and then reverse sleeve over the original sleeve. I admire the dedication, though.
Funny that
I only sleeved the damage cards. No real need on the other cards. No real wear on them.
LOL - I had to read this twice before I understood what was being said rather than what I saw. I thought I saw "I only sleeve damaged cards".
I was thinking that the best way to prevent damage is to sleeve them BEFORE they get damaged. Then I reread the post...
I claim distraction from a work call. ![]()
I put sleeves on my damage deck only. The other cards don't see much wear and tear, so I don't sleeve them. That and I keep adding to those stacks.
Sleeve everything here. I also put the clear contact paper on my movement dials (both outer surfaces and the interior movements).
And then for good measure I do the contact sheet-protection on my Focus tokens, Evade tokens, Focus tokens, Shields, Ions, etc.
My set of X-Wing Minis is so protected now, it's going to be a family heirloom!! ![]()
Thanks crookedwookie
Ya the double sleeving is proving a little annoying for sizes . The only reason I want to double sleeve is so there is no way dirt or water can get on the cards
I think if I sleeve the damage and upgrade cards in the mini USA and the sleeve them in the mini euro one that will work for double sleeving them it's the pilot cards that are being a pain I'm not sure what to get for the second layer sleeve
I don't think mayday sleeves would work for the second layer of the pilot cards
If you are that worried about it, use scotch tape on the open of the single card sleeve.
Scotch tape really, that would look so stupid
Double sleeving looks "so stupid" too. The amount of money you would spend double sleeving everything could easily be spent on another core set for another damage deck, more templates, more pilot cards, focus tokens, etc.
I have two Core Sets, myself. The only set of cards that are not sleeved are the second set of Damage Cards -- to keep them separate from the other set. Other than that, every card is sleeved . . . just in case.
I do like the idea of duplicates of unique pilots unsleeved, though.
Sleeves only cost $2 for a pack of 100 there is no way it will cost $40 to sleeve them
Everything I've got is sleeved except duplicate unique pilots. I use the FFG ones, got a pack of the Mayday sleeves and they were a little too short for the pilot cards. Hell I've even got the rules cards in some old Ultra Pro purple sleeves from my STCCG days.
I sleeve all my cards, i use the american miniature sleeves for the damage and upgrades, then i use ffg star wars limited art sleeves for the pilot cards, and double sleeve them with penny sleeves over the ffg sleeve, then i store the pilot cards in ultra pro 9 card deck sleeves and put them in a binder. For the mini cards i just wrap a rubber band around em. And for the maneuver dials i use contact paper.
Yagyu are penny sleeves a brand ?
