I am running a tournament tomorrow for a local game store. They are giving away a B-wing and a Tie Bomber.

Wave three is not in the current FAQ. Would you allow players to field wave three ships?

You can do whatever you want. For official regional tournaments, you cannot use them yet, though it isn't regional season yet.

Should I let the store decide?

They tend to only sell x-wing stuff after other stores have run out. Last night was a game night and they sold the most stuff since I've been there. Also wave three was available. Do I say yes they can use it in hopes it will get people to buy more ships?

I'm in the process of organizing a casual play event (i.e. non tournament, but using tournament rules) in my FLGS. As long as the event isn't an official FFG tournament, then in the spirit of fun, as well as the store selling as much as the players want to buy, I was planning on people flying whatever ships they want. That generally makes the players and the store happier, so why not...

I would say if all the players got all the wave 3 stuff they want, let em use it. However, if anyone hasn't been able to get what they want yet, since it's only been out a few days I would stick with the official rules and keep it Wave 1 and 2 only. Next weekend I would probably feel differently.

Yeah this weekend might be a bit early to expect everyone to have all their wave 3 stuff.

But on the other hand, it's not like the Wave 3 stuff is so over powered, that the wave 1 & 2 Iists are outclassed or anything. So even if a few people don't have the wave 3 stuff they want, it's not like they are disadvataged and couldn't compete.

Oh, but you do lose on not keeping up with the Jones! It's all about bragging rights. So even having a few wave 4 ships isn't going to cut it. He who has the most wins!

Ok, this helps guys thanks. I think because the store is giving away a prize and charging a fee that I'll keep it to waves one and two.

Next month, all bets are off.

how about exclude wave3 but play a finals game where they can use the prizes and play with them. the winner gets to pick from either squad as their prize?
