EotE PbP

By Edward Nightingale, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I'm a big PbP role-player and I just got interested in Edge of the Empire. My normal location, paizo.com, doesn't seem to have an interested crowd. Is anyone here interested in playing in a medium commitment Star Wars: Edge of the Empire play-by-post game?

It is an appealing proposition but how will you handle the rolls? EotE is a game that encourages players to interpret and incorporate into the history the results of their rolls, such as threats, despairs, advantages and triumphs. Will this not make the PnP game too slow?

Yeah, the back and forth on that might be tough. I would be intrigued to give it a go, but I definitely think that could slow down a game.

I'm interested depending on regularity of posting, I enjoy posting once a day and anything slower then that tends to get a bit frustrating. Also concerned about how rolls will be dealt with, but I presume the GM could spend the advantage as well as the threat?

I GM and play in... *counts on hand* ...I dunno, 6 or 7 EotE PbP games. Orokos.com has an excellent dice roller with BBCode generator built into it, so you can throw the actual dice results as pictures up on your forum of choice. If you're a member of the d20radio forums, you can browse the Play By Post stuff over there.

Sure, it's kinda slow-moving, but that's the nature of playing by posting. The upside is, you have all the time you need to narrate exactly how you wish (I am not often great with words on the spot, so the pace of PbP is a real boon to me :)).

And I might be interested in playing another game :) unless me taking a spot would deny someone else the chance to play, that is. Not trying to be greedy.

Also, Edward, could you define "medium commitment?"

For the occasional "conferring" on a dice result, as long as the player and GM are fairly attentive to each other, it doesn't bog down play too much for my tastes.

So by medium commitment I mean posting at least once per day. What awaputurwpn said all makes sense and sounds reasonable.

I'm still learning the system, so I don't think I would want to GM amongst the other Pathfinder games I'm running.

Edward, I take it you're looking to start up a game, rather than run in one? If it's in fact the latter, feel free to send me a PM - already got a PbP running, and could do with some more good players; if it's the former, then I wish you the best of luck. The system works really well for PbP, in my experience.

I had trouble PMing you, so I had to reply here. Fortunately my situation is the latter and I am looking for a game. Just tell me about your current group and how much experience you've accumulated and I will get working on a character!

Presently, I have a mixed bag group of six players (though this may be reduced to 4 - 5 if you decided to join - because two of the players are very inactive): an escaped Twi'lek slave whose former master is a very powerful Hutt lord, one who's obsessed with recovering her; another is an ex-Imperial officer, who went AWOL after witnessing the true barbaric nature of the Empire he served; there is a Wookiee slave-labourer, whose drive to damage the Empire is something considerable; an upbeat, optimistic young doctor from the core worlds, who's keeping his recently discovered Force-Sensitivity a secret from all; an Imperial patriot-turned-Empire-hater journalist who, after gaining access to uncensored reports about what the Empire was doing, decided to venture out into the galaxy to find the truth for himself; and a naive Gand, keen to establish his own identity and increase his knowledge of technology and machinery.

Careers and Specialisations covered in the above are, respectively: Smuggler (Scoundrel), Hired Gun (Mercenary Soldier), Hired Gun (Marauder), Colonist (Doctor/Force-Sensitive Exile), Colonist (Politico), Technician (Outlaw Tech).

My only restriction is that you can't buy into the Force-Sensitive Exile (or Emergent) specialisations, at least not yet. When the game began, I only had a single slot for such a character up for grabs, to give emphasis to the reality that Force-Sensitives are RARE in this time period. Still, plenty of ground for interesting concepts available, right?

The link to the game's Campaign Details page is as follows: http://roleplayinggames.net/cgi-bin/notesdetails_view.pl?&board=109&type=details ; if you like what you read (have read above), then send me an email and we'll see what we can do.

anyone have any slots open for a PbP player?

Hey all, I have an immediate opening for a player in my ongoing PbP game of EOTE. We had a guy drop out. The other 3 of us are long term players looking for a fun like minded player. We usually post or dialogue each day so the games take about 2-3 months.

We use google drive for the game doc and ooc chatter via google hangouts.

PM me if interested.
