NBN Card - ISP Monopoly

By llDresdenll, in Android: Netrunner The Card Game

Give me money for tagging the runner already:

Art: Interior of an internet cafe, with a greed looking guy collecting money from some poor shmuck who's digging change out of his pocket.

Asset version: 2 Rez, 2 trash, 1 click: If the runner is tagged, you may remove one tag and collect 2 credits.

Operation Version: 2 Cost, for every 2 tags the runner has collect 3 coins, remove 1 tag for every 3 coins you collect this way.

Any chance this is coming soon?

The only thing this really works with is Midseason Replacements, since that's the only card that gives the quantity of tags you'd need to make it worthwhile. I'm already paying 5 credits for midseason, then spending three clicks next turn to gain 6 and undo most of what I did to begin with. That doesn't sound great to me. Any other time the runner is taking tags in quantity, they've decided that there's no longer any point in being cautious. This is usually when the runner is on 5 or 6 agenda points. When that occurs, usually the last thing I want is to be spending clicks for money - I'm digging for answers to the new position. Either Scorched Earth or Psychographics play much better here than clicking for 2 creds. Just my input. I think it needs more upside.

Yeah, an operation would definitely be better than a click-for-credit asset solution. Alternatively, if you don't have an agenda in-hand to psycho-advance, you could combo with the newly announced GRNDL refinery - click one, psycho-GRNDL, click 2, trash GRNDL for many money (assuming a sufficient tag-flood already exists). Potential for a huge cash injection there (even if we do have to wait until 2014 for Fear and Loathing :P )

Man, can I not wait for GRNDL Refinery. I hadn't considered it with Psychographics, but that is hilariously awesome. I was going to run it in 'teki as another "mebbe its a trap, mebbe its not."

Back on topic, there is some validity to Brigaldio's post. The first optionreally isn't much better then Private Contracts. Honestly you could probably just go with "If the runner is tagged, this card gains 'click to gain 2'." The runner has some control, unless you've dumped tags on them, and then it gives them another reason to debate whether to live with them or clear them.

An Operation that traded tags for credits could be good, but I'd rather see it not trade, simply reward you for multi-tagging. Perhaps gain 2 per, without removing them, or remove one to gain 2 per left, or something along those lines. The multi-tag strat has some support, but not a lot of "oomph" right now.
