i had this scenario last night

i was attempting to fly a swarm.

first round of movement i chose 2 soft turn (bank?) so the back row of my ships overlap and collided with the first row. so the back row is now touching the first row.

second round of movement they all moved straight 2.

so my question is since they are touching due to the collision in the previous round does this round still count as overlapping and i get no actions or do they count as not overlapping and get actions?

I believe that in the second round you do not count as overlapping... otherwise that rule would be applied to asteroids when you land on them and you would have to roll 1 damage die when flying onto it and 1 when flying off of it.

If the ships didn't physically overlapped in the round, they are not considered touching.

In other words, you can only 'touch' a ship as a result of overlapping with it first. A fortuitous contact, or moving at same speed from a touch position is not enough to consider them 'touching'.

@GroggyGolem: It is possible to collide twice with the same rock. If your final position ends on top of an asteroid in such way that your next maneuver's template will touch the same asteroid, you will collide again. However, if your next maneuver's template won't touch it, you will not suffer any ill effects.

Soooo even if the edge of the template that connects to the ship is touching the asteroid i would be required to roll a damage die. Intense. I'm gonna go re-read the rule book and FAQ tonight. I clearly need to refresh my memory on some things.

Ok, here is another senario I was thinking about, just to see how people play it. Lets say you have a YT and a B-wing flying straight at each other. BW moves first and then the TY rams into him. Neither shoot. However, the BW really wants to get a K-turn off next round and locks in the 2 k-turn manuver. So here is the question. If you are flush with a base, and then do a manuver that is pretty much equal to the base size (move '2' k-turn over a '2' wide large base), do you count as barely overlapping or barely clearing?

You are overlapping or you are not. In this case, the B-Wing nubs would overlap the other players base and thus wouldn't get to move.
