Map Creation tools?

By Bayard91, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hello everyone!

I've been looking into these digital maps recently and I really want to get some made. But, like most people, I am on a tight budget. Got laid off recently and I am not allowed to shell out any money until I find another career type job.

So anyway, is there any templates or tools you kind people could link me to that do not cost anything, or are from questionable websites?

I saw those but mediafire keeps redirecting me to questionable websites. Websites like friendfinder.

And the last time I downloaded something from there, I got a nasty virus. After cleaning my computer, it's still lingering around. So... yeah.

I updated the links so that they use direct download links - you shouldn't even have to go to the site.

That said, they're not viruses regardless of how you download them. I don't know what you tried to download the "last time," but don't let that turn you off of downloading items from file uploading sites like this, which are used heavily to distribute user-created content. I'd suggest you put an adblocker on your browser (that there are people that browse without these shocks me) - Mediafire is an utterly clean interface if you browse with that.

It was some fonts that I was downloading. Coincidentally, my Norton Protection had expired not long before. Probably the one time I would have needed it.

Anyway, I'll try them again.

You can find a wealth of free and low-cost options at the Cartographer's Guild:

I noticed at one of the cons someone was just drawing things out on white pieces of paper as the campaign went along. I tried this in our latest session, and it was a huge success. As i described the scene I would draw out the details. The players liked it better because they felt less restricted by a pre-made map. They were able to go anywhere because I could just draw up the new location.
