The talent states "When a character suffers strain" which could mean it either applies when the character who has the talent suffers strain, or when anyone in the group suffers strain.

Does this talent apply to the whole group or just to the player?

It says, "When the character suffers strain, he...". So, only the player.

I had to ask because I play a lot of table top games where wording like this can be twisted around into the complete opposite intention.

In the recent 66 podcast they mentioned it works with stims, so that's s nice benefit and combo.
