Those aren't wave four. They are something else. They are on a slightly smaller scale to allow for playability. The Rebel transport will come with an X-wing and a few new pilots in addition to the cards and upgrades for itself. Other than that we know a few names and little else.
The large ships aren't wave 4.
Call them Wave 3.5. Or Wave Q.
Or just the epic game set or whatever they want to call them.
Wave Epic Game Set is kind of a mouthful.

I get a feeling that the Transport might be almost the Starter set for large ships, as it will contain special damage decks, rules, and upgrades.
Wave 4: Planet of Yavin. Now that is true EPIC scale.
ok if wave 3.5 were to the same scale how big would the minis be?
i have a 30'x25' empty shed i can paint the whole floor black how would that be for a gaming mat?
This will give you an idea of the various ship-lengths at 1:270 scale.
Specifically on the two announced Capital ships (going from Wookiepedia).
The GR75 Rebel Transport is fictionally 90 Meters in length. At 1/270th it would be 0.33 m or 13.12".
The CR90 Corvette (Tantive IV) is fictionally 150 Meters in length. At 1/270th it would be 0.56 m or 21.87".
At 1/270th both are ridiculously too large for game play IMHO. The sliding scale makes them manageable as models, but keeps them huge and they feel like capital ships next to the snub-fighters and medium ships.
Edited by HexisWell... I wouldn't mind a stationary 22" CR-90 model but I would agree that this would be close to the upper limit.
Perhaps there is a Star Destroyer yet to come (in the interview with FFG they neither confirmed or denied it) and they wanted it to be the upper size limit, i.e. noticeably larger than the Tantive IV. If so then we might have an upper limit of which we are not yet aware.
If so then possibly they are are scaling for effect (yeah!!!) and the current Tantive IV isn't the largest. Just think of the table top battle that would be... ![]()

And a Star Destroyer would be a little more than ten times the size of the Corvette at 5.93 meters, or 233.46 inches.
Or, in other words, just shy of 19 and a half FEET long. A bit hard to fit onto a 3x3 play area. ![]()
Although it does give you a great sense of just how insanely massive those things are.
And their size is not the only thing that really makes them unplayable at the fighter level of the game. The sheer number of weapon turrets and other things they bolster would require something ridiculous like a 10,000 pt squad to counter... I just don't see Star Destroyers ever becoming part of the X-Wing game as ships on the board. As scenarios concerning a small portion of the ship as the playing field? Maybe.

If that's true and the Star Destroyer never becomes part of the game I won't be upset. But the Tantive IV and GR-45/90. That I am definitely excited about. They are close enough in scale to look cool.
I hate to harsh your squee, but the ISD is a bit too big, even with the sliding scale. Even a VSD is.
The ISD is 1600 m, at 1/270th that's 5.93 m in game, or 233.3" or 19' 5.3"
The VSD is 900 m, at 1/270th that's 3.33 m in game, or 131.2" or 10' 11.2"
Even at 1/3rd game scale it would look ridiculously out of scale, and still be way to huge to play on even a gigantic gaming table.
I agree that there are plenty of ships that will fit the game and would make for fun gameplay. The problem is, none of them are as iconic. I don't have a problem with this, but I can see how FFG would want to produce ships that are highly recognizable to draw in a larger audience. Time will tell. It seems that out of all the wave 3 ships, the HWK-290 is selling out faster than anything else.
I can't come up with any size that an ISD (or VSD) would look appropriate, and be remotely affordable or movable without a forklift.
Keep this in mind:

Maybe a playmat for epic scale and a bridge model and some turbolaser models. A complete model is just crazy time tho.
Edited by HexisI agree a play mat for a Star Destroyer and a play mat (the physical turrets of course) for the death star.
Both with rules and missions.

I'm wonder about this question and no, I'm not as up to date on Star Wars history and many (most) of the fans here.
I thought the Tantive IV (is that right) was boarded by a TIE Boarding craft. But in the movie (above) the Destroyer is seen pulling it in? Just a movie fax pax?
What really happened?
What really happened?
The ISD pulled the Tantive IV into it's large docking bay. It really is that much larger then a CR-90.
The CR-90 is 150m long, the ISD is 1,600 metters long, or a bit over 10 times the lenght.

I printed out a 2D Corellian Corvette that's on Board Game Geek. Not 3D but it is 1/270 and it looks *nice* on the play mat! A very happy medium between proper scale and on-table feasibility for capital ships.
Would love to see some more 2D ships like that, either officially-produced (wink-wink FFG
) or homebrewed. If I had the skillz I'd make an Imperial Star Galleon. Or a Nebulan-B.
Yeah what he said - it's primary docking bay is so large, it comfortably just parked the Corvette inside so they could board at their leisure.
Although, thinking about it in retrospect, if the Corvette still had operational weapons systems that seems like a TERRIBLE idea. ![]()

I agree that's what it was in the movies. Looked great. But Wookipedia and a few people have said they boarded using a TIE Boarding Craft. They wouldn't need to do that if it was in the docking bay. ![]()

Well, if it was inside the dock - then how would the escape pods get launched out into space?
