Where does X-Wing go after wave 3

By 4plus, in X-Wing

I still vote for a new game, similar to X-Wing but uniquely tweaked for capital ships. Something similar to battle fleet gothic but perhaps with a similar template movement system. Ships could have sections of hull for individual weapons, represented by cards, which can be purchased with points and destroyed when damage is taken. Ships would change course and speed incrementally over several turns. Fighter wings could be tiny miniatures or tokens. You get the idea.

I won't buy anything from the prequels. I might avoid buying EU stuff too. I like that so far every ship was in the movies (besides the Hawk which raped its way into the movie... But at least dark forces was cool).

? What movie did the HWK "****" its way into?

hmm... I was told it was in one of the newly edited backgrounds from one of the classic movies (after it was edited for dvd or whatever). However, after a quick search online, I found no evidence. Must've been hearsay. Does anyone else know? Still, the original films were raped. Hayden whatshisname being edited in to Jedi... rubbish.

I, too, found nothing with a simple search query in Google. So I put in my copy of A New Hope and scoured the Mos Eisley scenes. This is the closest thing I could come up with:

It doesn't look look exactly like the HWK-290 because the wings seem to be attached too high on the main body, but it's the closest ship I could find in the movie. What do you think? Anybody know what this ship really is if it's not the HWK-290?

it looks like the same ones people take pictures of here on earth, i think they call them UFO's or something

I'm glad to see in advanced society people dress as robots stand very still and Busk for money.

And yeah tbh for the definition that could be anything at all.

Maybe instead of models, they will start releasing card packs with upgrades, weapons, pilots etc. Although with all the expansions out that come with those, that could be unlikely as well.

I never really cared for the Skipray. Something about the design... I preferred the Assault Gunboat when I wanted to imagine a hyperspace-capable Imperial strike craft before the TIE Avenger entered production. Between the two of them it seemed the Assault Gunboat was better equipped for dogfighting and the Blastboat was better configured for attacking capital or medium-sized vessels.

Sadly the gunboat isn't as popular as the blastboat, even if it is better looking. It'll probably end up being covered by the TIE Defender which is similar in many ways, and more popular.

It's worth considering that plenty of the EU material used in this game already is taken from the PC games; X-Wing, TIE Fighter, and Galaxies. I wouldn't write the Assault Gunboat off just yet.

I think there's also a chance that we will see the Z-95s on the imperial side....

- Mara Jade

- They are often used by Pirates

- The z-95s in the FFG SW LCG are affiliated with scum and villainy....

Well, the HWK-290 opened the door for Expanded Universe ships in the main waves. I'm not sure if they want to go all EU, but they have expressed a commitment to the Galactic Civil War time period.

With the large ships apparently not being Wave 4, I assume the real Wave 4 will still be ships and not a bunch of cards or anything (they could do something neat with a release like that, but it would probably be a side release like the large ships).

There are plenty of ships from the EU they can use. There's a lot from the EU that are just utterly ridiculous and I suspect they'll probably wait as long as possible before introducing, but I'd hate to tell anyone they can't get their favorite ship.

The only other one I really want to see at this point is the Phantom TIE, which, as far as I can only tell, only ever had two appearances.

It's worth pointing out that the latest article says this wave includes "the first starship from the Star Wars expanded universe". I think it's a safe bet we'll see plenty of EU going forwad.

I'd be all over a TIE Phantom. They were great in EAW, and the design is in keeping with the typical Imperial navy scheme while having some distinction. Some stealth abilities might be slick in this game, too.

Where else are they going to get ships from?

Yeah, I can't see us getting ships from anywhere other than the EU at this point (maybe a couple from Rebels or the new Episodes when those come out, but that's still some time off).

I have nostalgic reasons for liking the Phantom, but there are definitely some practical ones as well. It's a nice ship that fits in with the rest of the TIEs, while still providing unique differences. It gives FFG something that can appeal to movie-only fans (who will pretty much only recognize TIEs for the Empire) while still having at least some variety.

They could do the Outrider as that did appeardid over Corruscant in the rerelease. OTHER than that yeah they will need to delve into the EU.

Are we sure there IS a wave 4? They said that the large vessels weren't wave 4... but does that necessarily mean there is a different wave 4?

This is apparently the most successful game FFG has ever done. I don't think they'll be dropping it this soon.
