So Wave 3 seems to complete the ships I am familiar with in the starwars universe, or at least the ones that aren't giant cruisers. What could be in a potential wave 4?
Edited by 4plusWhere does X-Wing go after wave 3
This is the list of what I think would make an interesting Wave 4, it opens up more builds and includes some of the more popular EU ships.
Imperials
GAT-12 Skipray Blastboat - is a bit smaller than the Falcon, about 2/3 the size. Would give Imperials access to a 360 arc ship

TIE Defender - gives Imperials access to a heavy air-superioty fighter, allowing them to field elite forces without resorting to Medium Sized ships like the Firespray.

Rebels
Z-95 Headhunter, allows Rebels to run a tiny bit swarmier list, not to the level of the Imperials, but gives a bit of variation, the general suggestion is 2s across the board, access to Missiles and a dial like the X-Wing.

YT-2400 Light Frieghter, a lot of people really want them, as the Outrider is fairly iconic. The people that have played them with a 180 front arc and Barrel Roll say they feel very different to the YT-1800. Also rebels are currently down a medium ship.

Try the wave 4 speculation thread. Looks like 2 big ships and epic modes.

Nope, that is not Wave 4, that's going to be slotted between waves. So Wave 3.5ish...

Sure enough...

I would Like to see some different factions added, it wasn't all just battles between the Rebellion and the Empire. They wouldn't have to make new models in some cases, just repaints with new cards could work. Although I would still love to see a Z-95 Headhunter released!

Unfortunately, they have said no new factions, which is a shame and the Hutt Consortium would be awesome.
I'd be interested in playing all four ships Rodent Mastermind proposes. I like the twist of an 180 degree arc for the YT-2400. Not being a very knowledgable EU fan, I still recognize the Z-95 and YT-2400. But the Tie Defender looks really cool and fits in with the iconic imperial ships I do know. The Skipray Blastboat is the most obscure, but as a smaller medium ship with a turret for the Empire, it would still definitely be a welcome addition to the game.
Since FFG has already produced all of the expected ships for the game, I think these are all excellent choices. The real question is whether or not FFG is going to embrace the EU. Sure, we got the HWK-290, but it was a single ship accompanied by three highly recognizable (and sought after) ships from the trilogy. Will a wave be well received that has none of these?
I say yes. Like I said before, I haven't had a lot of exposure to the EU. But as long as the ships seem similar to those I am familiar with, I don't neccessarily care about them being instantly recognizable. And if the bring new possibilities to the game, I'm evenore up for them. Plus, these ships also lend themselves to the RPG, which is a big plus as well.
I'm almost looking forward to wave four as much as receiving my wave three ships I've been waiting on for so long.
I agree on the Skipray, the YT-2400, the Z-95 and the TIE defender. It's a good balance between the two factions.
I'm surprised that so far nobody has mentioned the Cloakshape Fighter. It's official EU, and similar vintage to the Y-Wing. Granted it probably makes the Y-wing look like an A-wing in terms of maneuverability, and it is one ship that could potentially be found on both sides. Mind you, Y-wings were once in the service of the republic (and presumably the early Empire).
Since we seem to be sticking to largely within 10 years of the Battle of Yavin, we aren't likely to see things like the N-1 Fighter or Vulture Droids. Star Trek Attack Wing seems to have ships from all sorts of Eras, which has me going in Geek twitch with how that feels wrong. Pulling from different eras is more plausible in the Star Wars Universe, as long as said eras are reasonable close together.
I'd like to see all four of those (and the cloakshape), but especially the Skipray. I still don't think it is likely that there will be any wave that is 100% EU ships. I think they will split the waves with classic trilogy repaints to preserve the Star Wars feel, availability of classic ships, and to give us new pilots for existing ships.
I'm thinking the next waves will look something like this:
Green Painted A-Wing
YT-2400
TIE Interceptor w/181st Stripes
Skipray Blastboat
I wouldn't be surprised if we started to see variations of the same ships we have with new pilots and upgrades.
For example: X-wings with closed s-foils.
Eventually, I'm sure we will see Clone Wars minis, but I doubt that's coming in wave 4.
The TIE Defender would have to be insanely expensive, as from what I remember from the TIE Fighter game, it was horrifically overpowered.
It was faster than an A-Wing, as agile, had more firepower than an X-Wing, better shields than a B-Wing, and I think it might have even had a tractor beam thing that reduced the target's agility.
Thanks for reminding me about the tie defender. Its been a long time since the ole Thrustmaster days on the Pentium. The defender would be a very cool ship to see. I will check out the other wave 4 discusion thread thanks for the link.
Tie Defender minimun costs 90 points.
But I sure would love them!
Tie Advance aka Tie Avenger is what I hope for!
My guess for Wave 4: Pilot expansions for all the existing ships. The X-Wing expansion will have all non-expansion pilots like Jek and Porkins and maybe Ace, as well as Rogue Squadron pilots with an EPT. Tie fighter will have a PS5 generic or maybe more named pilots, etc.
I am really excited about a generic Y-Wing title card that will give a crew slot or maybe fixed forward firing ion cannon instead of a turret. More named Y-Wing pilots would be great as well as an eratta to the grey squadron pilot that lets them have an EPT. They could also use this time to eratta all the previous pilots too to balance out the points or whatever.
I would love to see a set of Bounty Hunter ships that could be used by either faction. Lots of possible unique variations/capabilities with these ships that would allow for completely different squad gameplay depending if the imperials or empire used them as well as bounty hunter only squads.
Mist Hunter - Zuckuss
Punishing One - Dengar
IG-2000 - IG-88
Hounds Tooth - Boskk
Slave 2 - Boba Fett

Also, depending on the success with the larger ships (e.g. Tantive IV), I fully expect to see the Hoth ships come in.
Give me my Snowspeeders and Taun-Tauns and AT-AT's and AT-ST's!

I hadn't heard this before. Where did they say this?
I agree with Beefquake. The bounty hunters would be fun, especially if some can be used by either faction.
I'd also like to see ships from X-Wing Alliance and Star Wars Galaxies. Many of us have played those games and would like to have them not only for diversity of game play but also for the nostalgia factor.

I would open the package right there in the store, sniff it, and complain "I thought they smelled bad...on the OUTSIDE."
Don't expect the Hoth speeders anytime soon. Winter is coming, and apparently it is difficult to adapt them to the cold.
Edited by KineticOperatorI agree with the 4 ships posted earlier. But I'd also say that new pilots and upgrades would be great. But I don't think that will be a full "Wave", just something to delay release of a real wave and keep us happy somewhere down the line.
Question on the Skipray Blastboat: I don't remenber a whole lot about this ship in the EU, but would it really be able to have a 360 arc? that picture seems that if it shot behind, it would blow off part of the ship. Maybe a 270 arc?

I think we will see packs, a bit like the Transport, in between waves which have scenarios/mission, extra cards, extra pilots and possibly repaints.

I can see it being able to fire either side of the tail, it's not hard to put a governor in that doesn't allow it to shoot it's own tail, so with natural movement of the ship it will be able to cover most of the rear arc. Seeing as we had planes in WWII that could fire bullets through a moving propeller

The "tail" can rotate to horizontal for landing mode. I don't see any reason it can't do that while flying to enable a 360 degree turret.
this thread was literally started 2 days ago, even when a 7 page one was already on the front page. Heres what youll see
Tie defender

some kind of freighter
arguments about whether big ships are or are not wave 4
