Plugged In Tour

By Kaijudo, in Android: Netrunner The Card Game

I'm sure this isn't going to be the popular opinion. I don't like this vote for which card should be included in a data pack. I'm new to the LCG scene, so I'm not sure if this is the norm. It just seems wrong to me. Like it leaves the door open for the card that doesn't get picked; to become some kinda game prize in a future tourney, or some rare promo thing. I got into the LCG because it's not technical a TCG, but AR is starting to have that kinda TCG vibe to me. Also, letting players pick a card sounds way to meta to me. I think cards should be picked by the devs since they have more advance knowledge on what cards we're getting in later data packs.

I understand the concerns, but they seem a bit strong.

The likelihood of them releasing the other is next to zero. It shoots their credibility in the foot and ruins any future events like this, and FFG has, to my knowledge never released a promo that wasn't simply alternate art of an existing card.

Also, for the second part, the devs would likely never have done this if they didn't have plans in place for both eventualities. The Collective has a generic enough ability that it doesn't really require specific cards, and they have continued to support the mill strategy that the other identity clearly aims for.

At my locations the idea seems to have some popularity, which seems to bear out aside from concerns on the lack of support for some locations, which has some validity. However I am betting they have learned from that via the three new venues, and when they do this in the future, they will incorporate that.

Thank you for your response and great insight. What you've said makes a whole lot of sense. You've eased my mind about this. Thanks for repsenod back with a real answer and not just a bash like people do on other sites when someone doesn't see things their way.

No problem. Coming from a background in Legend of the Five Rings, this sort of thing is something I have seen a bit of. I actually don't really like the way it is handled there, but am intrigued by the idea with regards to an LCG. With the focus on a smaller card pool of more relevant cards, it has some potential to be really interesting.

Gla dI could help, as that was my intention!
