But what makes the card unique in the rules of this game is the card name. Without a change in the rules, releasing a version of Han Solo with a different name would make it playable at the same time as the current Han Solo. However, I think we can safely say that isn't going to happen.

Correct. Decipher had a specific 'persona' rules to handle this, Star Wars: The Card Game, does not have any such rules.
If and when FFG releases cards with different conflicting names (Anakin Skywalker, Leia Organa Solo, etc.), I suspect that the cards themselves will have text on them that makes them count as another name for uniqueness (Ex: Treat this card as named Darth Vader for purposes of uniqueness).
it wouldn't matter if the card names were different, it's the same person and you can't have multiple copies of the same unique character out.
False. You can have both the Millennium Falcon and Renegade Squadron in play at the same time, even though the former is an integral component of the latter. Then there's Red Five. that card undeniably represents a figher being flown by a specific pilot - without Luke at the controls, it's exactly the same as any other X-wing. Nothing special about the ship itself, yet you can have both on the table at once.
Not to mention you can have Red Five, and Luke in play at the same time. I think if there becomes a need to have two cards (The same character with differing card titles), then FFG will address it.
