Can Droids see in the dark?

By MrDodger, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Sorry if its already been asked, I couldn't see it.

Should PC droids be able to see in the dark? I think it gives them another advantage and also takes away a potential upgrade route.

Opinions?

Just buy scanner goggles and have them as built in. Voila, see in the dark. But no, they don't automatically come with that option.

Agreed. Droids don't gain in inherant bonuses over other species outside of the whole breathing/sleeping/eating as mentioned in their profile. They can have their gear installed, but that's up to them and the GM

If a player wanted it enough, I might let him have it...but if he could just buy scanner goggles and say they're built in, then I'd probably go that way.

That's what the rules say to do.

The pit droids who run our ship have 'magnetic feet' in case they ever want to go outside the ship. Should the players ever wish to use that inside I plan to treat them like they are in a high gravity well (PPP to maneuver).

Having droids see in the dark by default is like buying a camera (in real life) with nightvision by default. So yeah, go the goggle route.

Sounds about right guys, cheers.
