Firing Arc and Large Ship rules insert

By Reklawyad, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Wanted to see if there was a reference to the Large Ship Rules insert in PDF format, and a firing arc per ship.

Thanks so much.

I've not seen a PDF of the inserts anywhere but the firing arc for the the YT-1300 is explicitly defined as the forward arc printed on its token and it is NOT 360. The Firespray arcs are forward arc and the auxiliary arc to its rear, as printed on its token. Only the Primary weapon may use the auxiliary arc.

Jim

Thanks, what gives the Falcon the 360 firming, some secondary upgrade?

The insert says

----------

Yt-1300

----------

""Turret primary weapon" (with the falcon primary weapon symbol)

Each ship in this pack uses a turret as its primary weapon, Thus, each Ship card shows the Turret primary weapon icon, and each ship token shows a circular red arrow as a reminder.

When attacking with a turret primary weapon, a ship may target an enemy ship inside or outside its firing arc. When attacking with a secondary weapon, the hsip must still target a ship inside its firing arc (Unless specified otherwise on the upgrade card)."

----------

So - it's defined as a new type of primary weapon.

Just to be thourough

-----------

firespray

----------

"Auxiliary Firing Arc

Each ship in this pack has an auxiliary firing arc identified by dotted lines printed on its ship token. These ships also have a unique primary weapon icon printed on their ship cards. When attacking with its primary weapon, a ship with this icon may attack an enemy ship that is within range 1-3 and inside its standard or auxiliary firing arc.

When attacking with a secondary weapon, the ship must still target an enemy ship inside its standard firing arc (unless otherwise specified on the upgrade)"

------------

A little surprising they didn't go with the same wording on both of these large ships - I don't have access to the Shuttle yet. I don't expect to see anything there, as it has just a "standard" firing arc.

Thank you Ravncat, I'm ordering my own Falcon and Slave 1's now but it's nice to have a reference to those.

Shame they should have just add it to a new PDF file. Oh well!

So Emrico-

you're wrong

No, I was not wrong. The YT-1300 has the standard Firing Arc (front 90). It has a Turret Primary Weapon that can shoot INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE FIRING ARC. The Turret

Primary Weapon may fire 360 degrees but it does NOT give the YT-1300 a 360 degree Firing Arc. The OP's question was about the firing Arc of the ship, not the Turret. My answer was correct, I just didn't mention the Turret.

Emrico was correct, the firing arc is clearly explained for the YT-1300 and it is NOT 360. The primary weapon may fire in or out of the YT-1300s firing arc.

This matters mostly because of Backstabber, who gains an attack die when attacking from outside of the firing arc, and for secondary weapons. Backstabber gains an attack die from anywhere not in front of the YT-1300, but does NOT gain an extra die when attacking from the back of the Firespray as that is still within a firing arc.

[...] but does NOT gain an extra die when attacking from the back of the Firespray as that is still within a firing arc.

Remember when the Firespray is involved we like to call DS-61-3 Sidestabber for luck.

Isn't it odd that even though he was called Backstabber, it was he that was shot from behind by the Millennium Falcon?

I like to think that as he was spiraling into the side of the trench, his last thought was "oh sweet irony!"

Or that Chewie growled something along the lines of "Backstabber? More like BackstabbeD!" as he took the fateful shot.

Or maybe "So, that's what that feels like."
