He was on top of an asteroid.
Twice on Vassal using my Dutch+3 Gold Y-Wing list I have managed to completely lock down Han Solo. Ionized him, had him land on an asteroid and parked a Y-Wing in front of him. Every turn I had the Y-Wing go 1 straight into Han, which he couldn't do so he stayed put. When Han went, he tried to go 1 forward from the Ion and couldn't, so he sat on the asteroid. No actions, no attack, and it is pretty trivial to ionize an actionless Falcon with 2 or 3 remaining Y-Wings. Funny (for me) both times, and not really that hard to do if your opponent ever makes the mistake of pointing his Falcon at an asteroid.
Bwahahahahaha
Still pretty hard to pull off because whenever you whiff an ion shot he is free as you need two tokens per turn plus a Y-Wing blocking him.this all while escorts pick off your Y-Wings. Might work for long enough to win the game but only very occasionally.
They were kinda flukes, I admit, but entertaining regardless. Also, the Y-Wing blocking wasn't helpless, he could still get a TL passed to him and was still able to shoot with his turret at other targets. Whiffing Ion shots didn't happen when shooting at the actionless, AG 1 Falcon. Its possible, of course, but not very likely. What ended up happening is my one blocking Y-Wing could occasionally get an Ion hit against a target (since my other Y-Wings stayed in his and the falcons vicinity), usually ensuring that that same target would still be in range of his Ion for another turn or two. Two other Y-Wings would ionize the Falcon, and the fourth (as long as he was still alive) would hit the third target.
With Han being 50+ points, neither of those guys had enough other ships to really ruin my day. Of course, this hardly means that 4 Y-Wings is the ideal counter to HSF, but like I said it was fun to see.
Edited by KineticOperatorI just had our first league night on Monday with which I ran a Y-Wing with and Ion Cannon and R5-K6 (the one that lets you recover target locks). I won 2 or three games. The lost was to an A-Wing, not from maneuverability but bad dice rolls. The other two matches I took some licks as I got past but ion to death 1 and flew off the other.
Because I left him with his base still on the asteroid, and you cannot shoot while your base overlaps an asteroid. Since he couldn't move off of it while Ionized with a Y-Wing directly in front of him, he never got another shot off.
Thanks. I had been playing wrong, I knew you lost your action but not your attack.

I blame Wil Wheaton

I would imagine they get quite a few rules wrong when playing games on Wil's show as I'm sure with time constraints and everything that they don't read through the rules multiple times like us, look up the FAQ and delve into a wonderful community of players who know their stuff.

Well no problem with that, but a classic HSF has 2 X-Wings and my experience is that they can kill Y-Wings really quick especially as they are only Ag1 too. If He had 2 Ionwings too, it willprobably not be a very fun game for him though XD
