Modding question

When applying a mod to an attachment, if a triumph is rolled, what do you guys generally let the players do with it?

It hasn't come up in my game yet. One thing I'd be careful about, however, would be to let it mean permanent additional bonuses to the weapon or attachment. A Boost die to all shots in the next session or next encounter sounds like an appropriate effect.

There are some good examples in the skill section, it could give the device an additional function thats good for a single use, or give it superior for a session.

I think a good use of Triumph during modding would be to reduce the difficulty of the next Mod to the same as the one you just installed instead of increasing it. The Craftsmen has become very well acquainted with the weapon and this attachment making the next mod easier. Also, it could be that the Craftsmen didn't need all the materials he thought he would and the cost is reduced.

Excellent suggestions here.

I might personally give the next modification check an upgrade to the PCs roll (instead of decreasing the difficulty), but really, it's a six-of-one type situation.

Those are great suggestions. Normally if you fail to get a mod on an attachment you can't try again, so my GM let me retry a failed mod for the triumph. for future reference we might just use the upgrade or reduce difficulty.

Yeah, either 1) let the next mod applied use same difficulty as the check that produced the Triumph (same mod if more of same type is possible, or a different if only one is possible), or 2) apply another level of mod immediately, no check required, or 3) Add 1 to the number of times the mod can be applied (if it makes sense of course).

Another one to consider. A triumph gives the player a permanent bonus die whenever he is attempting to mod the same type of attachment again. Up to the player to remember this. He has figured out an easier way to mod the attachment or is an expert at it now having done it once with flying colors.
