Exceeding the Wound/Strain Threshold

By The Mick, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire Beginner Game

Hey guys,

played my first game last night, acted as DM for the Mos Shuuta campaign. I scoured the forums for an answer to this, but couldn't find it:

What happens when a player suffers wounds that exceed his threshold? I know he suffers a critical injury and is knocked unconscious for the remainder of the encounter, but then what? I assume he regains consciousness afterwards and can continue playing until the next encounter... but what happens when the next combat occurs? I assume he can participate until he gets hit again? And then the first wound he takes knocks him out again and he takes a second critical?

I am no expert being that I am only preparing to run my first beginner game but I believe the answer you seek is on Pg. 19 of the beginner book. The guy can heal but the group can decide how that healing is going to take place and what pieces of equipment can be used. You also can heal the critical portion as well through a dice roll as the table on pg. 19 shows.

For the beginning campaign, I would say he gets KO'd and then let the others bring him up at the end of the encounter.

However for a normal game, I suppose I'd treat it much like I do in D&D or Pathfinder -- he dies.

Give some option to be taken to a bacta tank for a sum of credits, but without the risk of character death, the reward element is often cheap and unfufilling. YMMV.
