We played on a 6x4 table with full 100 point teams each (100+100 Rebel vs 100+99 Imperial) and 2 sets of asteroids scattered across the table. We stood on the 6 foot sides and played the width of the table, being 4 feet away from the other team. It was Rebel vs Imperial and turned out to be almost even in the end. The imperials seemed to be winning at first, but the rebel ships started picking them off a little quicker after about 30-45 minutes. The game went on for about 2 hours and 5-10 minutes. The big mistake was splitting up the rebel ships in the beginning against 5-6 various ties and 3 Firesprays, which ended up giving the imperials the win in the end with 2 damaged Firesprays and a shieldless advanced. The Rebels had a Y-wing with Ion, a few X-Wing's (1 with an advanced torp, but was destroyed before firing it), an A-Wing, and Chewie in theYT-1300 with the M.F. title. All in all, the bigger coming up game idea might be a lot of fun. The new capital ships coming out came up a few times in conversation and we talked about how much fun we think it will actually be. I was skeptical about this game at first, but it turned out to be pretty fun in the end. I recommend that everyone tries out a game like this and see what you think.
Played a 4 person (2v2) game at 100 points a person
I've played a mixed-squad game before where each team has 100 points of both Rebels and Imperials. That's a lot of fun too.

Makes me think of the expanded universe, when the Rebels and Imperials teamed up to fight the Vong when they invaded the galaxy.
I played a similar style game at pax last weekend...only on steraroids. 100pts per person, 8 ppl...800pts total. It was fun but painfully long started at 9pm called it quits at 3am. There were two Y wings and an x wing left against I believe two ties.
We played 2vs2 100pts per person but on a 4 1/2'x3' cos we only had a 3' wide table, one set of asteroids also imp vs rebel. Was great fun. Curious what rules you enforced.
We said a team could not fly thier partners ships and must not share points, i.e. one spend 98 and the other 102. This made squadchoices trickier and stoped people building a ship the other wanted into a squad and letting the other fly it.
I recommend it to people but ours took nearly 4hrs as two people were novices.
The 100 points were per person and not allowed to share. We had a new player who had only played a handful of games, but did pretty well. We played standard tournament rules and allowed sharing of your teammates dials and maneuvers. All in all, it turned out to be a successful game.

What sized table did you use?

We played a 600 point game last week. It took all of six hours. It was an even match for several hours. Our playmat was 6x8' with two sets of asteroids. What size was your 800pt game playmat? That sounds epic.
Edited by Viceroy BoldaWe put two 3X3s next to each other (3X6) and played width wise. 27 ships 8 3D astsroids. We had two new players and allowed sharing of points and dials. The strategizing is what took the longest.

That's how we play. 100 point per team. We pick team members by die roll. We have played 2 vs 2 and 2 vs 1 so far. Great fun.
I just wish I could get my hands on the ships I am still missing (Tie Advanced, Y-Wing and A-Wing).
I played in a 150 point 2v2 yesterday, each player having 75 points on a standard 3x3 with 1 set of asteroids, Rebels vs Imperials. The rebels took a decked out Chewie and a decked out Biggs on one side, decked out Horton and Garvin on the other. The imps took Howlrunner/Backstabber/Mauler/Winged Gundark with expose/stealth on Mauler and something else on Howlrunner on one side, and I took Soontir with PTL, Turr, and the 20 point interceptor.
The standard ties charged straight at the Falcon, Biggs, and Garven while I went up the right to loop into the fight from the side, trying to take out Horton who had the ion cannon and two torps. Naturally, Horton was the second to die, but more on that later. I messed up some positioning and ended up missing half the action, while by the end of turn 3 Biggs, Backstabber, and Gundark were all dead. I finally swoop in and finish off Garven, and then Horton placed himself right in front of my skill 3 guy, who finished him off. Chewie took down Mauler before he died, but in the end the interceptors and Howlrunner won out.
It was fun, and it only took about an hour
I played 2v2, 100 points each, standard 3x3 with one set of asteroids. It was tons of fun! Similar to the SprollyG's experience, the Rebels split up their squad, which ultimately spelled their doom. The Imperials all gunned for Chewie early on, and there just wasn't any recovering from that kind of an assault.
The best was being able to fly a few high-caliber Imperial pilots together, but still giving them some cheap wingmen to lead into battle. I agree, I am stoked for the epic tournament format!
