I just came across these fine specimens.....

By Soulfly626, in X-Wing

Before you do anything permanent to them, bear in mind the cinematic rules most probably will expand the play area beyond the current 3x3!

If you get a good photo and contact a vinyl banner printer you can often get them printed for £20-£30

Soulfly626,

I've been looking at getting a Deep Cut Studios mat, but I'm worried about durability. Does the vinyl seem thick/strong enough to stand up to repeated play? The X-Wing bases can be a bit sharp at the edges, and I'm wondering if they'll scratch the mat.

Originally I wanted to get one of the GF9 space mats but after seeing them in action I passed. They scratch way too easily.

The Gale Force Nine mats do scratch, but the scratches are barely noticible. I've been using mine for quite a while and it still presents a nice playing area. I've enjoyed playing on the mat and being able to roll it up for storage and transportation.

Not sure if I should go with this one:

I think I like the planets one more. I have a 4x3 board cut into 2 2x3 pieces for easy storage. Was thinking of getting one of these 4x6 mats and cutting it in half. With the planet mat I could have an "open space" mat and a planet orbit map to vary it up a little :D

if you weight the bases so the do not topple over you can get a roll of green felt that has a selfadhesive backing that youu can cut to any size/shape that will protect the mats or buy a sheet of thin perspex. the felt is made by fabalon and i bought mine from B&Q for £5, more that i will ever need.

So there is a disturbance in the force!!!!

Delivery was way shorter than expected!

10/10

Nice quality!!!!!!

Is it fold-/roll-able? Looks really nice, but if it's a big 6ft board then I got nowhere to store it.

Edit: Never mind, I actually engaged my brain for a change and just read the description on the site :D

Thank you!

They shipped it folded but I recommend rolling it. I been rolling it inside and out to take the creases off.

but other than that great mat!! nice graphics and very durable.

on their site it says scratch resistant. I'm taking it out today for long day battle. i'll let you know how it handles a 4 player game. honestly, on the visual side, even my wife for as much as she hates me geeking out... she loved this mat. It just looks really nice. I really got this mat thinking ahead for the larger epic battles which I'm really looking forward to. I don't one a GF9 but this looks strong to me. I'll post more feed back tonight when I get back.

I would go for the first one hands down!!! and don't cut it....it's a nice map. I would mask it with blue masking tape for regular battles and unmask for epic. but it's your mula.

Oh, I understand it's a nice mat :) Sadly, I don't have the space to lay out a 6ft mat anywhere so I'd never actually get to use the full length anyway :(

Shame they don't make different size mats... half the size at half the cost would suit me down to the ground.

You could always measure it out and take a Xacto knife to it...

Thats the plan ;)
