I just came across these fine specimens.....

By Soulfly626, in X-Wing

They are larger than the standard 3x3 surface for xwing but there's no reason you can use them.

Their actually some of the coolest I've seen.

I was thinking about these or the corsec's...but these look so much nicer I think. I can always drawn a Light border in the center for the 36 x 36 and have that mat just cover my table completely. :)

Wow looks great, like specially the Nebula and ASteroid themes...

I like the planet theme for the scort mission..... the moon for a bombing mission.....sigh....$$$$$$$$$$

I suppose it would be wrong to buy one and then just cut it down to 3x3...

I just placed an order for the planet theme. It came out to $63 with delivery to US. I'll post my review when I get it.

why not just draw it on it?? :)

These do look nice.

Im jeolous now :(

I would probably opt for some simple Art Tape (like this one) and mark off the area(s). I like having the extra space on either side for placing the cards. Feels like a HUD.

I am using a similar set up over an old folding table using a glittery black tablecloth my wife got for our cake table on our wedding day. Finally found a use for it again! haha!

You could probably use a chalk line and just wipe it clean when you're done.

Make a small frame that you could move around to get different play areas every time =)

Well my Friends,

Paypal said my mat shipped the following day. I'll post some pics and ETA info.

That was very quick. So far so good.

So there is a disturbance in the force!!!!

Delivery was way shorter than expected!

Nice quality!!!!!!

My FLGS has excellent 4x4 boards with stars painted on, but I was thinking they could be enhanced by putting a clear 3x3 silicone or plexiglass sheet on top. This would define the play area and make for a great non-skid surface (I glue mousepad to the underside of my bases) while still showing the nice space background and allowing for 6" margins around the play area for cards and shtuff.

Any ideas about where to acquire said 3x3 plexi or clear silicone?

Brilliant, that sounds affordable enough. I'm sure I can ask them, but do you think poly can be stored without risk of cracks and chips?

I should hope so. The transparent covering of CDs and DVDs is polycarbonate. If anything, scratching would be the biggest hazard.

Thank you very much genteen, I think I will make the pilgrimage tomorrow.

Bah, they want almost $60 for a 36x36...

Wow, that's way higher than their web store was quoting. Sorry that didn't work as expected.

Nice art work, but felt is still the way to go. It travels easy and reduces the accidental movements that come from bumps. And you can get a 3'x3' of felt for a couple of dollars.

Ended up getting a 3/16 sheet (36x36 of course) of clear acrylic for about $40. Not what I was hoping to pay, but I think it will look fantastic on the tabletop and work well with the nonskid mouse pad modification that I made to my bases. I'll post pictures if I remember after I try it out Saturday at my FLGS.

Thanks for the tip gentgeen!

Is it fold-/roll-able? Looks really nice, but if it's a big 6ft board then I got nowhere to store it.

Edit: Never mind, I actually engaged my brain for a change and just read the description on the site :D
