Icons

By Ericnando, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

hello I'm new to the game and even after reading the FAQ and other posts I am still in doubt about the loss of icons in the middle of a challenge :

case 1
Started a military conflict against an opponent and declared A striker with strength 3 , my opponent stated in sequence 2 defenders each with 2 strength , but soon after my opponent had declared its supporters have used something ( event, accessory or any card other than a plan) which removed ONE of his letters icon Military , what happens to the Challenge ? Who wins ? and why ?

case 2

Started a military conflict ( could be any other ) , I declared my attacker with strength 3 , my opponent after I have declared the attacker used something ( which also is not a letter of plan) and removed the icon military my attacker as is the resolution of the challenge ? He needs to defend anyway? ....

case 3
My opponent started a conflict of any kind against me, and I do not have any cards to defend myself , he automatically won the conflict , and this conflict was considered defenseless '.

case 4
Same as case 3, but all my letters in question are lowered, this case will be considered also automatically win without defense?

case 5
My opponent made a military strike against me, but I only own cards with icon of intrigue or power, it is not possible to defend yourself? ?

Please excuse the inconvenience

thank you very much

Cases 1 and 2 - Icons are only checked at the start of the challenge. Once a character is participating in the challenge, removing the icon that corresponds to the challenge in progress has no effect on the current challenge. The icon IS removed, but it would only prevent that character from participating in an ADDITIONAL challenge with that icon (normally only relevant on a character that can stand again or does not kneel).

Case 3 - Yes - that would be an unopposed challenge.

Case 4 - I don't know exactly what you mean by "all letters are lowered" but if you have no STR or no icons and cannot defend, then it is unopposed.

Case 5 - You can only participate in a challenge if you control a character with the appropriate icon (unless you have an effect that explicitly allows a character to participate without the appropriate icon).

The general rules:

1. You can only declare a character as an attacker or defender if it has the appropriate icon when it is time to declare it (it must also be standing at this that time).

2. If a character loses the icon before being declared, it cannot be declared.

3. If a character loses the icon after being declared, nothing happens. The character stays in the challenge through resolution (and counts its STR).

4. An "unopposed" challenge is one in which the defending player, for whatever reason, either a) counts 0 total STR, b) has no participating defenders, or c) both.
