My Biggest Complaint with the Game.

By azato, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

SWSE had the fan-created and maintained Omegadex. I think the last version available was 1.9. Ran to 57 pages. I printed mine in booklet form to have handy. Good example of what this thread seems to be looking for.

Is there a reasonable way to do a crowd sourced index?

Yeah quite easily actually... open a Google Doc to an Excel document... start listing words in one column and pages in the other. When it is completely finished (Thousands of rows), you can drop it into Word and format it nicely with columns, and then PDF your release :)

I'm sitting at home getting ready to run a game tonight (finally). Please let me know when you are finished with this so I can get a copy ;) .

Thanks,

J

Oooooo.... I love that Omegadex. Once FFG sees a few more books in print, I would love to see some EotE equivalent of an Omegadex.

Agree. The index sucks. No Poison? Really? I still keep nit being able to find it. Just paged through equipment and combat and gm's section multiple times. Where the hell is it? Lol. When I found it last time I wrote a post in the errata thread.

(Pg172) :)

From a GMing end, while it's tangential to the point here, this may make for easier GMing... on-the-fly NPC stat blocks!

Awesome! I gotta get me one of those!

I looked for unarmed combat in the index. I was disappointed.

You can just read the rulebook, and make your own index and/or GM screen. That's what I do with every RPG that I GM.

This was courtesy of someone on the Something Awful forums' EotE thread -- the original computer image thereof wasn't saved, but "it was just a ten-minute hackjob in GIMP using the circle tool" so you can make your own. In short, "Gin something up, go to RubberStampChamp.com and have 'em make it. Takes about a week."

True, Trossk...I could do that but the problem is that I won't be adding anything in until AFTER I can't find something. Thus it will not eliminate frustration.

Sir, the possibility of successfully using a role playing game index is approximately three thousand, seven hundred and twenty to one.

I'm surprised no one else did this part already. So here it is. I've made it accessible to anyone with the link, though I might just make it public later.

My first addition to it, the location of the Sabacc Rules in Under a Black Sun. This seems like a great community effort.

Thanks, Fuzz. I made a new post linking to the sheet, 'cause not everyone is going to read this subject.

Once we can get all of the rulebook indexed, I'll see about making it pretty. I'll probably keep the spreadsheet up so that we can add the next book to it as well.

I agree about the index. What I've done is put little post-it notes on sections I think I might revisit often. Like dividers sticking out from the side of the pages that I can quickly flip to.

Works well enough. Also, you might find the Table of Contents more useful than the index.

Credit for that goes to Tharizdun on the Something Awful forums' own EotE thread.

I added about 50 more lines from the Gear and Equipment Section... slow going but worth it.

Where on earth did you find that?!

Edit: Never mind. I didn't notice that there was another page of posts before I posted the question. I'll have to give it a try myself.
