I apologise up front if this has been asked and answered previously, my Search-Fu maybe letting me down.

A interesting "discussion" has arisen in my group in regards 1 ship having multiple focus results on them. There is a debate as to whether that single ship can spend multiple focuses in the one round, say during Attack and Defend, or even to Defend from two different attacking ships.

We understand from the FAQ that it is possible to end up with more than one focus due to special abilities, but during combat can you spend the multiple focuses ? . I assume when spent they aren't as such an action (As the Focus action is about gaining the focus token) but instead just part of the combat resolution ??

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Spending is NOT the same thing as performing the action (which gets you a token).

Performing the action Focus is what get's you the token. And like the FAQ says though you may only perform the action once there is more than one way to get tokens.

Otherwise yes, you may spend tokens, as many as you have and wish, during the turn. No problem.

Yes. I'm not sure there is a specific phrase in Rulebook or FAQ that says, "you can spend more than one focus per round." But considering that (except for a Moldy Crow HWK) you must remove all focus tokens in the end phase, why would they tell you it is possible to get more than one focus token in a round if you weren't allowed to spend them?

There are a few ways you can do this, for example:

1. use on more than one defense if your ship is attacked more than once.

2. Use one for defense and one for attack.

3. Use one for a first attack, and one for a second attack, in the case of gunner or cluster missiles.
