Legolas
Eldond
AQ- Glorfindel
AR- Elrond
How the heck did Sam make it into the final four?
Glorfindel
and
Elrond
are my picks.
Glorfindel and Sam
AQ- Legolas. What a tough decision. I'm picking Legolas because he represents my favorite sphere, he goes a long way to making that sphere playable, and he is featured on the coolest looking card in the game.
AR- Elrond. I think Sam's going to be great, but I want someone in the finals that I've actually used in a game. Great run for the hobbit though.
Final 4 prediction:
Glorfindel (Spirit)
Legolas
Sam Gamgee
Elrond (But possibly Beregond)
You can congratulate me in advance for nailing the top 4 winners right.

Yes yes Thank you, Thank you,
Khamul
P.S. Dont even think about copying my predictions or else.....

Congratulations!!!!
Thank you!!
AQ - Legolas
AR - Sam Gamgee
AQ - Legolas
AR - Sam Gamgee (and yes, I've actually played with him - he is fantastic)
AQ - Glorfinden (cause I think overall is a bit more usefull under more situations than Legolas)
AR - Elrond (he has given me a lot of victories and I have never played Sam, though I believe he will be very usefull )
Well for this matchup I must choose Glorfindel over Legolas for sheer awesome power, but I do believe Elrond would bow to the courage and resilience of the hobbit. So I vote for Sam over Elrond.
AQ - Legolas
Team Legolas all the way! He's an original Core Set hero and he progresses through the quest by killing foes. How amazing is that? I know, I know, Spirfindel has lower threat. You know what Legolas says to that? Threat shmreat! Bring the enemies on!
AR - Sam Gamgee
He's one of the key cogs of my Hobbit deck (yes, I've played with him many times over the past few weeks). In one epic moment at Gen Con, he hulked out when engaging four enemies in a single turn, boasting an attack and defense of 5, ready for combat after questing with a Fast Hitch available as well!
Thanks for voting!!!! Special thanks to legolas18, kyrie, Teamjimby, Ithilien Ranger, Nickpes, iznax, ClydieCloggie, lleimmoen, Ana, Devastazione88, nocturn, Karlson, Glowwyrm, Morithain and Raven 101... wow it stinks to get behind... for the great commentary. Honestly, your commentary makes the thread/championship.

The final four involves one easy decision for me, and one "gotta think this one through"....
AR: Sam . This was the easy one for me. I know Elrond is a beast. But honestly, I have only bothered to play with him maybe a couple of games. So there was no reason for me not to vote for an unreleased hero over one that I never really play anyways. Sam gets my "artwork" vote, my "fanboy" vote, my anti-elf vote, my lore-vote. I do like Magali's work, but it starts to feel over-polished at times... not everyone HAS to look like an elf... lol. (thoughts on Glorfindel below). I friggin LOVE the art for ALL of the new Hobbits in BR, and hope they definitely keep Alexandre Dainche around to do plenty more cards! And, of course, Sam is the hero of the story, so it's hard for me to overlook that. In the end, it still comes down to the playability as well. Is Sam a better card than Elrond? Not necessarily, but he is still a very good card. If it was a horrible card, or even just mediocre, that might be enough for me to give Elrond the nod, because I do like him (his card)...
Go, Sam, go!!!
AQ: Legolas.
Glorfindel is just TOO **** GOOD. There's NO denying that. But to shine, both characters need a little "love". Glorfindel needs LOV and Asfaloth (which needs a little help from Lore). Legolas needs Hands, the Blade, Bow, etc... but at least those are all in his own sphere. With all their toys, both elves are just amazingly good, and truly two of the best heroes in the game (if not THE best). So I'll give the tiebraker to artwork. I loved Glorfindel when he came out. Still do. The scenery behind him, the armor... so epic.... Buuuuuut, I love the subtlety of Legolas. I love the "promise" of action (about to draw his bow). The forest enclosed around him...
And when it comes down to it, the more I look at Glorfindel's face, the more I see
Jeff Goldblum
. It's in his eyes, eyebrows, nos, and mouth. Go ahead. I'll give you a few moments to go back and look at the card. Come back and tell me I'm wrong... lol.
I CANNOT vote for Jeff Goldblum to win this championship!!
Won't do it.... lol
Match-up spotlight:
LORD OF RIVENDELL VS MAYOR OF THE SHIRE
Both semi-final matches are very close and this bout is the closest as of right now. This is due to the score being all tied up at 11-11*. Supporters of Noldor are in outrage that the upstart gardener is sticking it to their Lord. While, supporters of men, dwarves, and Silvan alike are rallying behind the small hobbit. An interesting focus of the bout has been the rationale of voting for an unreleased and, in some cases, unplayed hero since Samwise the Brave only made a quick appearance at the Fair of Men known as GenCon. However, this has not seemed to deter many. Now, let's go down to the field to meet our champions.
Elrond said, "I ignore resource match, I have an additional response, I have a total of 12 stat points, I have been adventuring with you since we ventured into the bowels of Kazad-Dum, and I... am... a... boss . The hobbit has had a nice run, but it's time for the grown-ups to get down to business."
Sam, "Not if I have anything to do with it! I would like to send my salutations to all of you, Gentlepeople. I need your support in avenging dear, ole' Mr. Frodo. As you remember, Beregond defeated him after which Elrond took up his cause. Let's do this for the Shire! Who's with me?!!!"

AR - Elrond - 11 / Sam Gamgee - 12
P.S. I wonder how many of you guys have played more than 1, or any game at all, with Sam, just wondering
i haven't so i cant really vote for him
This is a good question, but no justifications nor prerequisites are necessary.
I know that, i'm just wondering how can someone ''like'' a hero he/she haven't even played ? By the way i'd like to congratulate you for this cool idea ! People like you are the reason that i can tell that this game has a GREAT community
Too true. And I think that is the exact point of this thread, to express that opinion.
Also, many thanks for the compliment. It's really you and all of the voters and commentators that have made this the most enjoyable.
Edited by Samwise GamgeeLegolas - I have been playing with practically the same two decks since I started and each deck has one of these two elves. I really enjoy them both, but I'm always wary of using Glorfindel if I don't have Light of Valinor out. When it comes to Legolas though, I just kill stuff. Throw a Rivendell Blade, Blade of Gondolin, and a couple Support of the Eagles on him and make sure there is a beefed up eagle (or at least a Vassal of the Windlord) and this guy can destroy Durin's Bane. It's a lot to set up, but I do it often enough that it makes me cry. Not to mention the fact that he's clearing locations during combat! Seriously, I'm rarely scared of a card that has an effect while it is active. Make it active, then explore it by killing something with Legolas. Glorfindel, can get a few things tossed his way, but I just don't feel so much love for him.
Sam - Elrond is a beast. No doubt there. Especially with a Vilya and Unexpected Courage (or two), but his 13 threat is difficult to get over. Sam on the other hand, can be a best with Fast Hitch and he's able to keep his threat to 8. Sam is what makes me wish I had Black Riders right now so I could try a Hobbit deck. Without him, it really isn't all that enticing. You build an "engine" around Elrond. You build a full deck around Sam. Give it to Sam.
Edited by joezim007Seriously, people. Jeff Freaking Goldblum. Tell me I'm wrong!!
Let's do a comparison...
Glorfinblum versus Jeff Goldfindel :
I tried to load pics directly, but the forum blocked anything from the outside..
argh... don't think I mind who wins.. though one might have to have a quiet chat to Mr Gamgee... after all i'm not sure if its the done thing to win your own competition
...though at least the dwarfs (especially Dain & Balin) would feel better if the Elves also lost to a Hobbit...
AQ - Glorfindel - (hard to choose... but as it seems that Glorfindel greatness is actually counting against him... I will pick him)
AR - Elrond - (I guessing that Sam is going to be one of my favorite heroes to play however as i'm yet to do so... I choose the Elven Lord that has been much fun for me to play. Hopefully the more i do... the less that I will associate Elrond with agent smith
)

hahahaha... even if you were right, and you might be but I wouldn't ever admit it - as then then I would have to block it out or get help... its bad enough seeing agent smith in Elrond... Jeff Goldblum is next level... and frankly I can't afford the counselling!
(Sorry Mr Goldblum I have enjoyed a number of your films but I simply don't see you as 'one of the mighty of the Firstborn')
'
Glorfindel and elrond
This is my battle cry: vote for the Lords of the Elves, Glorfindel and Elrond, who are not just Elven lords...because when you combine the two, you get the amazingly powerful, slightly erotic, Fondling Reel Lord!
Seriously, combine their names together and that's what you get. I'll leave the "fondling reel" thing to you own imagination, though technically speaking it could either be a "film reel" or a "lively Scottish or Irish folk dance." I'll let you be the judge...
Just remember to vote for the Fondling Reel Lord!
Glordindel

You are wrong. There is no freaking similarity.
I have actually registered because of this, though I have been a fan of the game for a while.
My vote does follow the alias:
Glorfindel
Elrond
