Tannhauser Revisited

By Steve-O, in Tannhauser

Hey all, long time no see.

I have the core game of Tannhauser, but it hasn't seen much action lately around my house (very sad.) I'm noticing a lot of new expansions and so on have come out since I last spent time with the game and I'm wondering: How have these added materials changed the game? For better or for worse?

I know in the core game it seemed like the Reich had a substantial advantage over the Union (not unbeatable by any means, but newbies with Reich will almost always beat newbies with Union, IMXP.) Have the expansions done anything to address this? How does the Matriarchy stack up against each of the other two factions, one on one style?

Practice and varing game modes helps, don't let the Reich player con you in to Deathmatch all the time, Don't forget your Flash guns auto-kill ability or your heavy weapon and grenades automatic wounding ability (cost the Union so many games when we started playing bacause we forgot).

Yula mixed up the Reich game play a bit, it was a pitty they didn't have a Union Expanchion Character before now, we missed out on Wolf so I cant say how much he changed the game play.

only had a few games with Novgorod and all Reich vs. Matariacy, they seam like an even match, the Union with their Grenades and Auto-wound heavy weapons should thin out the Bots PDQ so every one can go after the Hero modles.

Welcome back Steve-O!

Hi Steve-O.

I only just got the Novogrod expansion so I haven't had a chance to play test it, so I too would be interested to hear peoples thoughts. I have to admit with the arrival of Novogrod the game does seem a little reinvigorated. I am not sure why they didn't space out Ramirez & Georgi from Novogrod. That way it would have kept up the momentum with product and kept the time between the next expansion a little less boring. It would also be good to hear how the two new minis play out as I haven't got them yet. Hopefully Tannhauser will go through a mini renaissance with the release of new product and rules.
