Wave 3 is Shipping! Expected September 13th
Woo hoo! I have a 100 point squad worth of everything coming (except the HWK... just ordered 2 of those) and I can't wait to finally give them a try.

If they produce insufficient stock to even fill preorders, I will reevaluate my commitment to the game. Underestimating demand is one thing, but that would be ridiculous.
I hope that they release on that date without any delays... want my B-w and bomber.
I am willing to bet you will be able to get your hands on them....since they are all really support ships...and a a whole squad of any of them will probably die pretty quick, in a dogfight.

I suspect that wave 3 will be much easier to find than waves 1 and two. We're starting to move into more obscure ships that casual fans might recognize but won't immediately think of when you say "Star Wars". One ship is EU that movie only fans would never even have seen. Add to that the fact that mechanically these are all support ships rather than workhorse fighters and I think even the more rabid fans will be getting less of them overall.
Which I really hope FFG takes into account when they are deciding how much time and energy to put into future waves. It would be awful if a wave of all semi-obscure specialist ships not doing as well as the well known jack of all trades resulted in the line as a whole losing favor with the creators.
But on a more important note *happy dance*.

I think they will be fine as long as the new models bring something new mechanically and they keep the Wave 1/2 in stock so people can get their core forces. A lot of players will give it a go for the IP and continue playing due to the game.
Oh I know the game will still be popular. My concern is that someone who doesn't know the fine details of the game will look at the sales reports and go "hey! We went from selling X tie fighters per week to X-1 interceptors to X-3 tie bombers! The game must be losing steam. Time to cut it loose and find something else to do with the IP." Especially if someone saw the expansions flying off the selves and massively overestimated wave 3. It's not guaranteed and certainly won't be a death blow to the game even if it does happen but it'll be a solid gut punch that might hurt the quality of waves 5+.
this game probably has enough for imperial epic scale ships and another 2 waves of ships if wave 3 does not sell well. however if it does sell well we can prob start saving up for a death star =P
(sigh) Finally. I had my B-Wings and Bombers bought and paid for August 6th, and mid-August on the HWK's and Lambda. I only bought 1 shuttle though, which I have a feeling I'm going to regret. But in any event, I can always scour the local stores and hopefully stumble into another one at retail if I need to.
I hope it's out at the sometime in the uk
