Bodyguard talent

By AgentJ, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

While adding in talents to the awesome program that oggy made, I noticed this in the bodyguard talent - He suffers a number of strain no greater than his ranks in Body Guard.

I am wondering how you determine what strain he suffers? Should it be equal to his ranks? If not how do you determine what he would suffer and then you adjust it down to his ranks? Please help me understand this.

Thanks,

J

He suffers any number of strain he wants, up to and including his total ranks in Body Guard. So if the player has 3 ranks in Body Guard, he may suffer 1, 2, or 3 strain to upgrade attacks against his guarded target 1, 2, or 3 times.

Okay. I see how that works, If it is a tough enemy he may want to suffer the highest amount he can, if it is minions, he may only suffer 1.

Thanks,

J

Yeah, I had to read that a few times before I really worked out what it mean. It's a very common mechanic in the Talents, but I think they phrase it differently in different places. Would have been nice if they'd stuck to a consistent wording.
