(4.21) Losing/Gaining "all" Traits or Keywords

By ikarianprince, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

If a card gains or loses "all traits," it gains or
loses 1 instance of each trait in the game. If a
card gains or loses "all keywords," it gains or
loses 1 instance of each keyword in the game.
If a card loses "all instances" of a trait or
keyword, it loses that trait or keyword an
infinite number of times. A card cannot gain
"all instances" of a trait or keyword.

Can anyone explain to me (wtf) do they mean by that? Do they lose all the keywords 1 time and then they can regain from another card effect the same keyword? Or the card lose the keywords ''an infinite number of times'' and cannot gain a keyword again!PLEASE HELP.....

This has been answered a lot recently - you'll find about 4 threads about it (most about King Balon's host) with even the most cursory search.

The short version: loses all traits/keywords means -1 to each keyword. If he had deadly, he loses it, but if he then gains another instance, he would have it back (they're all cumulative). If he had a rhaegars harps (gains all traits) and someone used Old Nan to remove the Maester trait, he'd no longer be a maester (+1-1=0)

Thank you very much!

-Istarill so can you tell me a way so you can blank every keyword infinite because i cant find one so the second part of the rule is bad right?

There is no card in the game that causes a character to lose all instances of each keyword. The wording in the FAQ is confusing because of that, but leaves room for a future card that would follow that templating.

in my opinion all keywords have to be ALL keywords....when a card loses stealth but take it from another card what?is not a keyword anymore or what? i think in the case o blank like ..meera reed, nightmare, frozen moat have to work with maths +1 -1
What do you think about that?

I think that I have no idea what you are trying to say :(

What do you think about that?

So, if you lose "all your money" on Thursday and then get paid on Friday, is what you receive not money anymore? Depending on the situation, "loses all" does not necessarily mean "everything, forever." You have to consider timing, context, etc. You have to account for the larger context of the game's rules.

That's what the FAQ gives you: timing, context, etc. for proper interpretation within the structure of the game. So "loses all keywords" fits into a standard keyword check as "-1 of whatever keyword you are looking for" and "blank the text box" only impacts the printed text box, and not "text" that isn't physically inked onto the card.

"Loses each keyword" would be a better way to say it, in my opinion.

The card text is actually giving +1 Stealth. So having Stealth printed on the card means the card has +1 Stealth (they could take this concept to extremes and start giving cards Stealth(3) for multiple instances to make it harder to remove). So blanking the card just changes Stealth +1 to Stealth +0.

This effect isn't cumulative because neither Frozen Moat nor Meera remove Stealth. They simply prevent the card text that grants Stealth to the character from functioning.

Is that what you were getting at or was it something else?
