My Custom X-Wing Carry Case Board

By Deltmi, in X-Wing

Update:

I had my sister, who's an artist, paint a death star theme on my board. It's about 90% complete (need to finish the death star details), but I thought I'd throw it up here anyway.

After watching boyzie's carry case youtube video, I got the inspiration to make my own carry case game board. I bought two 18" x 36" (3/16" thick) particle boards and two 1"x 2" (6' length) boards. After some measuring, cutting, staple gunning, Voila! I made the carry case.

I made a starfield by painting it black and then flicked white paint to create the stars. For bigger stars, I used the end of the paint brush to "dot" the board.

I decided to make it a little fancy, and hand-drew the Star Wars and X-Wing on the side of the board. That probably took the longest because it's very meticulous (and I'm not much of an artist).

Here are some pics.

It's a little uneven when folded in half, but no issue when laid out flat.

P.S. Still trying to figure out to how post actual pics instead of links....

Find the location of the picture then use IMG tags around the link [.IMG]Address[./IMG]

BTW can't get to see your board as it says I must log in.

Ok finally fixed it. Photobucket is WAAAAAAYYYYY better than Flickr.

Why doesn't anyone show these types of cases with their stuff in them? I'd like to see how we'll you utilize all that space

This wasn't meant to store my miniatures. I have a separate Plano case for that. Actually, I wouldn't want to store anything in this case because it would move around so much. As you can see from the Underside pic, I had to reinforce the board because the particle board wasn't straight and was bowing.

Here's some pics of my storage:

Cool, thanks for the response. The board looks great! I made one with a grip surface, but it's not foldable and the area is 4x4 with the center marked off at 3x3. I would post pictures, but if it is anything like the forums were before the update, then I won't have a way..

What if you cut foam out in the areas that could fit your stuff and made it a snug fit? Problem solved.

That's a good suggestion. I'll probably store my movement templates, manuals, and cards inside the board. They kind of clutter my storage case.

That's not a bad idea. You can use another piece of foam that is cut slightly wider (barely noticeable) and use it as a plug so the stuff won't fall out.

bump for update

Looks amazing well done. Love the Death Star.

Very nice!
