Gila Hands Arcology

By ScottyH, in Android: Netrunner Rules Questions

Hi there,

There are several agendas in the game whose abilities don't seem to be specific to the corporation, such as Gila Hands Arcology. Can these abilities be used by either side?

I suspect not, but I can't find anything in the rules declaring it one way or another.

See page 14, "While an agenda is in the Corporation’s score area, it is active and adds its agenda points to his score." (emphasis mine)

The bit about the agenda being active is missing on page 18: "While an agenda is in the Runner’s score area, it adds its agenda points to his score."

We are meant to understand that agendas are not active in the Runner's score area. You may see some people argue that the sentence on page 8, "Agendas cannot be rezzed and are only active while in a score area", implies that agendas are active in any score area as opposed to just the corporation's score area (as the subsequent rules text clarifies), but that is not how the game is meant to be played (and will hopefully be addressed in an FAQ entry to quell these voices once and for all).

If still in doubt, there always the option to ask FFG directly via the "Rules Questions" link at the very bottom of the website.

Hope that helps.

Thank you!

The runner does not count as having scored agendas. He instead steals them.

So if an agenda refers to someone scoring a card it would be refering to the corp as a matter of definition and if it refers to someone stealing a card it would, by that same token, refer to the runner.

At present there are no active benefits from stealing agendas.

The cards Jinteki: Personal Evolution and Fetal AI reference the difference between stealing and scoring though.
