Brawn and Cybernetics

By Cyberman3000, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hey just want to get a quick answer on Cybernetics?

You can only get as many implants equal to your brawn rating, but say I have a brawn of 3 normally and I purchased the Cybernetic arm that add plus 1 brawn, would I now be able to have 4 cybernetic implants because I have a brawn of 4 now? Or would I still only be able to have 3 implants?

On top of that, since I have to buy cybernetic legs as a pair, does that count as one cybernetic implant, or as 2?

pretty much I want my character to have all of his limbs replaced with cybernetics, and I need to know if I have to have a brawn of 3 or 4 to do it

I'd say you're still limited to three cybernetic implants, since that extra point of Brawn isn't natural.

Since the rules say you have to buy the legs as a set to get the bonus, I'd say they only count as one implant, so if you want both arms and legs to be cybernetic, you'd need a Brawn of at least three. At least that's how I'd run it.

That or you could play a droid who pretty much ignores the Brawn restriction and can have up to six implants.

Yeah That's how I figured the spirit of the wording was.

My idea for my character is that he was a former separatist soldier, who decided to get himself augmented so that he could have a leg up on clone troopers, and possibly go toe to toe with Jedi (kinda like General Grevious but not as extreme), but after the separatists surrender he if forced to give up his "Enhancements" and is stuck with crude cheap prosthetics instead (no bonuses, but are obviously still mechanical rather then the natural looking prosthetics). Now he makes his way as a bounty hunter that utilizes droids, (based on his time in the separatist army) and is trying to save up to get enhanced again, as well as carve out a new life.

So basically I wanted him to already have 4 cybernetic limbs with no bonuses, with the goal that he would work to having them all replaced with the ones in the book. I just thought that having to start him off with a brawn of 4 right off-the-bat was a bit much.
