Voice of Isengard Discussion

By Karlson, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

I'm starting to think we're not going to get a VoI preview, but maybe an announcement fro the next saga expansion or the next cycle, or, God forbid, nightmare deck release news, which would be booring.

I'm starting to think were no getting any news today. I really hope i'm wrong.

The forums need a little jump start with something exciting to chat about.

With the Voice of Isengard upon us, surely we should be getting the Ring-maker announcement soon. Ah, the eternal cycle of waiting for news...

I hope that in Voice of Isengard and the Ring-maker cycle we see a theme of magic rings similar to Meccg when you tested a gold ring to see what it is and all that. Maybe we even get to see more Palantiri (specific please this time, all seven seeing stones were described in detail and we have enough material).

That would be awesome! I loved that mechanic from meccg

Dear Santa at FFG, send us some news today. Give us a precious present to think about and discuss over the holidays. Thank you.

Come on guys at FFG ... it has been more than a month since the last update , give us something for new years day

I'm wishing to play with Saruman as an ally. It makes sense for me...

I wonder how' they're gonna deal with compatibility issues with Saruman and the rest of the saga expansions in which he has become a traitor. Maybe a permanent burden called Saruman's Treachery or something that removes all Saruman player cards from the game.

I like that idea, although my gut tells me that they may just ignore the issue and let that be a player choice of how much they want to follow lore or not. Not that my gut means crap but ya know

That may very well be the case. You're right in that the designers don't always make the saga quests literal recreations of that part of the books, and that it doesn't have to restrict you to make it exactly the same. I think it's better this way.

Side note: I feel like I do take the saga expansions much more seriously in regards to theme than the cycles. I don't think I've played any of the hobbit quests without Dwarf decks nor the black riders without the hobbits but I have no issues taking elves into sieges of Minas Tirith ha

Also, not sure if this has been said elsewhere, but on the upcoming page, VoI has been changed from Q1 2014 to February 2014. Was hoping for January but it is what it is

What??? First you give us no news for a month and then you delay the release yet again? Booo, ffg, boo.

Pretty much this. Otherwise Gandalf could have been unusable in several Hobbit Quests (where he went away in the story), or in Black Riders (where he had business with Saruman).

I do the same ... always try to stay with "the story" on the saga boxes when making my decks, even when choosing allies :D

It feels quite awkward, especially when you try to do a HIDE test with Boromir and friends:

Lol what the heck

I was thinking about the deluxe and next cycle possibilities last night and, while this is all just random bumbling on my part, I thought I'd share it all the same.

Now that they seem to be committed to saga expansions for the Lord of the Rings itself, I feel they may start to stay away from the 'core' locations because they will be covered in those expansions. The fact that we're getting Dunlendings makes me think that perhaps we'll be looking west towards Swanfleet and Tharbad, rather than east towards Fangorn and Rohan, even if we are going to see Rohan player cards.

I'm usually wrong on these things, but thought I'd share my musings, anyway :)

@spalanzani I certainly hope so! Exploring those little known places would be great, and I don't think we'll get a Helm's Deep rehash which is probably what would happen had the sagas not been made.

So guys, do you think it'll happen today?

We can keep on hoping for an update. (...and pressing the refresh button on the main page!)

Maybe they've extended holidays until the 2nd January!

I hope for the opposite :P !

Well we got a fresh news article; however, it's not the area of focus I was anticipating. I have yet to purchase or play through any of the Nightmare Scenarios, but some of these new ones look really great (the artwork in particular is crazy!) So, I might have to look into them a bit more.
