Voice of Isengard Discussion

By Karlson, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

I would think Erkenbrand would be Tactics.

Red on Red!The armour was red too right (not just the shield)?

Maybe that elvish character with strange eyes is Haldirs brother- Rúmil/Orophin.

I think Haldir wont be in Voice of Isengard, they know we love him... He will be in AP with terrible player cards and boring quest.

Just saw the new preview ... This rohan warhorse made my day (ok night since i am of to bed). Discard an ally, destroy an enemy with eomer, ready him with the horse and destroy another one ... I am excited

I love that warhorse too. He may give new life to poor Brand and make Legolas even better.

Yeah the warhorse totally made my day too! - I see this card getting proxied... i'm far too impatience to wait!

As has been previously mentioned by others I would have preferred warhorses to have a limit of 1 per hero rather than restricted... but... the possibility of Eomer making 3 x 5 strength attacks in a round, using 2 warhorses also works for me.

That's what I thought of too. That would be insane!

I really wish this was coming out this year...

And what about a second deck with Hobbits (especially Merry) and Dúnedain Cache for Eómer to make it even more repeatable?

Well, he is the LORD of Westfold, and governs Helm's deep. Sounds like a leadership candidate to me.

Though he's also described as a great warrior. Which also makes him a tactics candidate. Just not in this box.

Any hero can be any sphere by now really...look at lore pippin... Stil: Lippin > Spippin any day.

My vote still stands: leadership Erkenbrand

The other hero will be an Elf. I think it is almost a safe bet. It is either going to be the female on the cover right now or the male previously hidden. The newest preview also confirms that Rohan will represent some cards of the deluxe/cycle, not a majority, I believe. And Elves are long overdue...

I do hope you are correct. I'd love to see more Elves, as they are my favorite characters.

Though you must agree FFG does not really care about long overdue or timing.

I can point again at Pippin here....2 Pippins in a row...

Then again the banner changing you mention was a bit odd.

Anyway, it's only what I assume to be the safest bet. Not what I want to see.

We can only speculate. Time will tell!

For me, this cycle may be the best, just imagine the heroes they can bring!

Erkenbrand, Legolas, Haldir, Eowyn, Arwen, Gildor...

...and awesome allies like Gamling!

...and finally new enemies- Ents and I am really excited about men of Dunland.

And then Saga expansion with epic Khazad-Dum fight...

Please FFG, dont ruin it :D

I would not like another eowyn or legolas hero to be honest. There are characters that are not yet in the game like erkenbrand, gamling (i mean we have a hama and dunhere hero, gamling was of more importance) , thranduil, galadriel ... There are so many that could fit this cycle and never been used before

I'm all for a new Tactics Eowyn for the last saga expansion, but yeah I hope the developers focus more on characters we haven't seen before. And I really hope we don't see a new Aragorn or a new Legolas or Gimli heroes in the next saga, I believe we'll see ally versions of those characters.

As for the next cycle, we don't really know if the player cards for it will focus on Rohan so much. If we take the last cycle as an example, there was lots of Outlands support and some support for Gondor but we also got a Hobbit centric pack and we got Mirlonde and whatnot, so I would not be so sure we will see Erkenbrand or Gamling though I hope we do.

I believe that the main focus will be rohan and elves, not just rohan

^ I hope so. As well as I hope there won't be much focus on the Isengard faction, I do not find that very interesting, considering the foresight of the saga.

I would like to see the Isenguad faction develop, but to be honest the possibility is less than zero. I mean, there is not even a potential hero, maybe there will be just one or two allies and maybe a couple of attachments, but I cannot think how it can go more than that

I'd like to see some Isengard weapon, something like

"attached hero gains +2 ATK (+1 instead if attacking an orc enemy)

Forced: Each orc enemy has -10 engagement cost."

i would like to see books.....more knowledge representing the vast library of orthan (dont know if there was one ever referenced but im guessing there was). they should have doomed every time you exhaust them to represent the sway knowledge has over your mind

rich

I just hope that the doom x doesn't limit feasible Hero choices... and it could be quite a tactical decision with 3 or 4 player games - I have only just realised that all players are effected, both positively and negatively) - hope there aren't too many table top arguments... where the secrecy player looks aghast at the doomed heaps of x card being played by their teammate.

on a side note... I wonder if Gríma will make it as an Hero (LOL) or Ally? He could be the hero of the new faction (that i'm not very interested in)

Nah. He'll be an objective ally in Voice of Isengard, but not a hero. It would mess up too much with the saga storyline, and there's just no real reason to make him a hero or an ally. So yeah, we know he was a good guy at some point in the somewhat distant past, but we know too little about him and he's just not relevant at that point in the story.

Has anyone pointed out yet how interesting the 1A side of "To Catch an Orc" looks? It's on the preview article page and it says that at the beginning of the game, we take the top 20 cards of our deck and set them aside and shuffle an orc guard (of the Orc we're trying to find) into our deck!

Very intriguing and I wonder if this will interact with the Time keyword or any of the "Turtle deck" punishment they've been describing

I really hope we see some love for traits, in particular those referenced in the Black Rider's boon cards. I can't see why those cards would give those traits unless they plan to do something with them. Right now those traits are totally worthless.

They're not completely worthless. Some cards (like palantir) interact with Noble trait and ranger's cards interact with Ranger trait. But I guess that they will add more such cards, and maybe even some treacheries like "each warrior gets -1attack till the end of round"

avalaible soon...

SOON!!!
