Voice of Isengard Discussion

By Karlson, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

Oh, I love the art again. Especially the now hidden Elf. But also the two event cards, and especially the Legacy, beautiful.

Saruman is tricky, great design. Word of Command does seem to combo very well with him - though it must be kept reserved for Gandalf, haha.

Just so much to talk about, very intriguing mechanics. Threat reduction has just been given new dimension. Elrond's Counsel works wonders in solo with the new Doomed cards. The Galadhrim's, on the other hand, in 3 or 4 players.

And yeah, I believe we must be getting more Elves in this cycle. It is just about time. Lothlórien is close, and so is Eregion.

You keep Sneak attack and W of command for both now. Cool! Now you can have 6 wizards in your deck which is very powerful.

Make that nine wizards. Don´t forget poor old Radagast.

On which link does this Orthanc Guard appear ? I cannot see him on the description page

As for the Elf, it cannot be Legolas for sure. Legolas was not blond (forget the movie)

It is linked in the news article. Just under the two pics of the new event cards.

thanks

Keyword “Time” is nice. The game need strategy deepth, no lucky. so, "Time" is better than the nightmare packs

Hey Guys Just saw the anouncement and read throught the topic :D Nice!

I really liked what I saw so far, but for me the most intriguing part is the replacement of the banner! Why would ffg want us not to see this elven male but don't care about the female elf?

To me - although I was quite convinced that we will be getting a new Arwen hero - this might indicate that the male elf will be the second hero. However, wether Haldir or Legolas I cannot say, though the hair colour seems to be a valid argument.

I am still convinced that the female is Arwen, though! I was actually hoping when we get to see more elves and hope (until the official anouncement) that the next deluxe expansion / AP cycle would focus on the evles of Lorien..

Anyway, already very very excited about this new expansion :P

Yes poor old Radagast now is even more unplayable then before.....

Maybe there'll be a load of horse creature allies in this cycle...

Quite likely, actually, given that Rohan is the main faction. Should see Shadowfax in this cycle, surely?

Any ideas on who the lore Rohan hero will be?

I suppose it could be something as banal as this is a Rohan/Isengard box, but the banner doesn't show any Rohan stuff? That for Heirs of Numenor was very Gondor-y, after all!

I'm going to second the vote for Erkenbrand in this box, then see what happens from there. It would be really awesome to see more Elves in this cycle - I was hoping for an Elven box to come next - though all those hopes are now swept away by this awesomeness!

Exhaust Shadowfax to keep an Istari character in play without paying any cost?

This is also inaccurate. In the novels it is never specified which color was his hair. Some people speculate it could have been blacl or blonde, but either of them is possible. In both the Bakshi film and in MECCG he is depicted having blonde hair.

Oh, by the by, what's the chance we'll see eagles in this cycle? Or player card Ents? Judging from some of the spoiled encounter cards, I'm thinking that it might be that we only see the bad side of the trees and not have any help from Treebeard and his ilk. But! We shall see, I guess!

Exhaust Shadowfax to piss off Theoden.

Should see Shadowfax in this cycle, surely?

I think not, because it will appear in one of the saga boxes (it plays a role in the story).

still- that hasnt stopped ffg from bringing out a character or item before...then having to leave it out. i think we shall

Personally I think it's just a design question, not any sort of stealth move to limit exposure to the upcoming card art. How do I know this? Because they replaced the unnamed elf with EOMER! I'm guessing it went something like this...

*FFG LOTR LCG team stands around the monitor looking over the updated website with pride*

Boss: Looks great! But, Hmmm something feels wrong.

Convenient child: Where's Eomer Daddy?

Boss: OMG Eomer isn't on the FRONT PAGE!?!?!!!! How did this happen!? He's my favorite hero!

And thus they swapped out Mystery elf with the obvious first choice: Eomer!

That's my theory on how it went down anyway.

Ents?

Like "Exhaust Ent when he enters play. Don't ready Ent during the refresh phase. Action: ready Ent when your threat is 49."

That kind of Ent?

Exhaust a Hobbit Hero to ready an Ent.

Exhaust a Hobbit Hero to ready an Ent.

And roll a dice and wait some time...

Then maybe...

Just this afternoon I was thinking about what an Ent ally would look like.

My take on it was something like "Skinbark does not ready during the refresh phase. Action: exhaust a Hobbit hero or hero with more Willpower than Skinbark to place a progress token on Skinbark. Refresh Action: If Skinbark has a number of progress tokens at least equal to his willpower, discard a progress token to ready Skinbark."

A bit overly complicated with the two actions, but somehow their slowness needs to be modelled I feel.

That made me laugh!

In all honesty, I hope they do make Ents only playable once a game or perhaps force the players to wait long periods of time after each use, because no player should ever be hasty in using Ents.
