Thanks for the head's up. And for those that don't know, Matthew Newman is he who was Feonix who created a bunch of fan quests on BGG a couple years back.

Really? O.O

The cardboard of the rings podcast did a really good interview with him after he was hired by FFG (See episode 46). He talks about the process of designing the sets including the playtesting. It's fascinating stuff and definitely worth listening to. IIRC, the first set he had a hand in was Black Riders which was then follow by VoI and the Ringmaker cycle so we are only just now seeing his handywork (along with Caleb of course). My gut feeling tells me that the game is getting a lot of TLC from Caleb and Matt and the upcoming AP cycle and saga sets will be the best yet.

Well yeah, we're hitting the prime--Eregion, Ost Edhil, Celebrimbor--finally getting deep in Arda history.

In preview on 14th February they said we will get VoI in less than a week and also "keep your eyes open for the next preview". Hmm, I hope we will see preview telling us that we can order VoI today or tommorow.

My local game shop had it show up today, picking it up after work, so any day now I'd assume.

my FLGS got in in last night and I picked it up this AM.

Have you played it yet? Is there any Ent?

Have you played it yet? Is there any Ent?

Nope, just finished sleeving my cards.

No Ents - but there are Huron enemies.

not that it means anything, but the Difficulty Levels are 4, 5, and 6.

i don't play solo, so I won't be able to report until this Saturday when I play with my gaming group.

Can you please spoil us huorn enemies? If you afraid to do it publicly or something - you can send me a PM, you have my word I won't spread it.

They have a new keyword: Hinder

They don't get shadow cards, they don't attack, and each round they are engaged with you they remove progress from the quest/active location.

also, the individual huorn enemies all have effects when they are engaged with you (deals damages, raises your threat more per round, removes resources, etc).

Played through first quest last night. If you don't want spoilers, time to look away!

SPOILERS

First quest is the one that deals with Dunlendings. It's a combat-heavy quest that piles on the enemies, and the hand size and card draw hate is pretty intense. At the same time, you need a lot of willpower to quest through quickly to avoid the time effects. Grima is an objective ally that you have to shepherd to safety, so you can't use him for this scenario. It's hard to put a difficulty on it after playing it once with old decks I had laying around, but I'd say it's challenging but beatable (this is two-handed, by the way).

Sounds like a fun quest Ian.

I'm so jealous that you guys are already playing these right now ;)

Just out of curiosity... what Grima objective ally does? Does he has the same art as hero?

By the way, thanks you for shedding some light on huorns... but there is a spoiled trechery which makes every huorn make an immediate attack... and you just said they don't attack. Or they don't attack on their own, just as a cause of trechery?

I'll try to spoil a couple of encounter cards tonight, if people are interested. The Grima objective has different art, but the same stats (if i remember correctly). He has "Action: Draw a card." and you lose the game if he leaves play.

correct. they don't attack normally.

And how he looks on this card? Better?

Does he look younger? :D

I do like the art better. It's more of a close-up, but he looks pretty **** evil. Between his appearance and the name Wormtongue, he's practically shouting "villain" from the rooftops. Get it together, heroes!

As promised, heeeere's Grima!
