Why are Promo cards the same as basic, but with a different picture

Max was $15 and Miriya $20.

I dont see why the need to release the escort fighter as a lone expansion as well. Obviously they are offering it with the larger ship to get you to buy the larger ship. Otherwise it might not be worth making it.

I like the fact that FFG doesnt do exclusive promo stuff that can only be won at contests. If you were powerful and smart enough to win the contest, why keep stacking bthe deck in your favor? I hated hunting down those stupid multi color fighters from Starship Battles, that nobody played.

Agreed. Exclusive promos that have a destabilizing effect on the game are always a pain in the butt. I can live with the standard cards. If I have the opportunity to get a promo, I will. It's just not a big deal.

and those Robotech prices were about what I thought. The markup on EBAY is nuts for them.

I am glad that FFG isn't releasing specialty items that have a limited print and effect game play. When you create rewards that are rare or hard to obtain and that change the meta of the game, more often in favor of the owner of that rare item, you create a pay to win hierarchy. Ultimately this serves to kill a game as individuals who want to win and can afford these items, time or money, create a negative playing culture that discourages new players. Let be frank, the hard core fans can only keep a game alive for so long, it takes a large and ever growing player base to keep a game growing.

As a big fan of the game, the plastic tokens, plastic rulers, over sized cards, and special picture reprints are great because their ownership demonstrates a player's love for the game. At the same time they don't give early players to the game or rich individuals the ability to dominate competition, at least above and beyond their ability to travel to more tournaments

If you think I'm being over critical about the pay to play mindset, I would suggest you go back and look at what people where trying to charge for some of the X-wings kits after the first releases sold out and before there was confirmation on reprints. Or, look at the prices people tried to get for their Kessel Run prizes despite the fact the ships were going to be available in just a few months.

I like the way FFG is handling the bonus material, it helps to discourage a bad win at all cost mindset in the gaming community.

They certainly don't HAVE to, but a lot of players not interested in the transport would still like the alt paint job and new pilots with the X-wing. I actually think it would be a cool idea if they put out some alternate paint jobs with additional pilots for a number of r ships. An Interceptor with the 181st stripes, Prototype A-wing, etc.

I think they are leaving the customization to the community, though. Frankly, I can't thank them enough for that, instead of reusing the same molds over and over and over. I honestly want to see the game expand with new options, not rehashes of the same ship. It has been discussed here that the possibility of card-based expansions are an idea to look at. Considering how easy it is to create these, I think it would be a good seller for FFG. The dev team can still concentrate on new ship expansions, and the player base can have new options to use on their existing ships until those expansions are in the wild.

I mean, Corran Horn, and other Rogues would be great expansions. Hell, a Rogue Squadron card set, maybe? Same with Fel's Squadron on the Imperial side. If you look at it from one perspective, the cards are what bring the changes to the game state anyways. The ships are the generic equipment these pilots ride in.

Received my cards today in the mail. The wedge promo barely fits in the sleeve. Here is the picture. That promo card makes Wedge Antilles more awesome haha

Now...that is a neat promo, to be honest.

It's neat, but I kinda prefer the original card's art.

Agreed it's all about the ships not the ugly humans piloting them. Unless of course it's a cute Twi'lek piloting the ship... can we have more of them on Promo cards.

Hey! Hey! Hey! You want to mock Lando "Colt .45" that's one thing. Wedge Antilles is a god among men, and I will NOT abide anyone calling Adonis Antilles "ugly." You take that back! :P

Wedge Antilles is a very awesome pilot. Survived the first run against the Death Star, escaped from Hoth when the Imperials attacked AND help destroy the second Death Star.

Does anyone have the acrylic Focus tokens from 2013 regionals they might part with?

PM me...

Now there's an idea that could sell like mad.

X-Wing Pilots Pin-up edition. All the pilot card art would be SW pinup girls.
