Unknown Region???

By Balou1917, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I had a 6 hour drive today to think about things. I was thinking about the Unknown region in the Star Wars galaxy. The galaxy is fully three-quarters explored. While I was pondering that, I recalled that in Star frontiers "their" galaxy was only a quarter explored. Now that being said, I saw the first Star Wars in the movie theatres as a kid (5 years old), heck I remember seeing Empire Strikes Back AND Indiana Jones as a double feature one summer. So I do not mean to speak out of turn, but it made me think hmmmmmm. Now it would be a house rule thing possibly, but as I was perusing "Star wars: The Essential Atlas" Del Rey 2009 on page 20 there is a picture with a Gotal and a Vratix "checking a cargo transports shipping manifest". And I'll be a nerf herders uncle... The Vratix looks just like a Vrusk?!?! So without copyright infringement, I think I just solved (for my universe) who inhabits the Unknown Region of the Star Wars Universe. Thoughts......

P.S. It was a long drive and there is no copyright infringement on the Gm's behalf. Or as "Castlecruncher" said in the FFG SWEoTE GM forums "Star Master".

Thoughts?

Vrusks, Yazirians, and Dralasites, oh my. Had a blast playing that game way back when. They'd be an interesting addition, especially the dralasites.

I say go for it. Sounds pretty cool. Never played star frontiers, but reading the races, they sound great.

My campaign is set in a sector out near Uknown Space. It's supposed to feel isolated and a little different, so I pulled on a bunch of minor species and variants, include a few from Star Frontiers.

Some of the prominent species in the Taldor Sector include:

  • The Mordageen, Clantanni, Muttanni, and Guineo from the JANGO FETT video game. Most of them are good "fringer" species for something like EotE. I've develoiped cutural stuff for them: the Mutanni, for example, are a species of brutal thugs ("space Orcs") while the Clantanni are gunslinger/pirates who often steal to bring back to their resource-poor planet.
  • The Annoo-dat from one of the old Prequel trilogy comics.
  • The Dralasites, Vrusk, and "Yaziri." The Dralasites are a strange, reclusive species, living in the interior of one planet, with general appearances even rarer than Force-users. The Vrusk Executive Clans morgaged their planet to the Trade Federation and Corporate Alliance (when the campaign started, one of the PCs owed a large sum of money to a Vrusk crimelord). The Yaziri have an ancient history as conquerors, but their planet was devastated long ago, so now they're nomadic mercenaries.
  • The Sullusti Mercentile Clans... an offshoot of the Sullustans, who left their planet when it incorporated... sort of across between Renaissance Italy and the caste-heavy India...
  • One of their vassal species are the Ichani, a purple-skinnned offshoot of the Rodian species who have evolved into samurai-like janissary warriors...

But I digress. Point is, Star Frontiers + Star Wars = fun! :)

I figured so, it's just good medicine to

ask your fellow wanderers

I love me some Sathar bad guys.

The Dralasites are probably my all time favorite race from a Sci Fi game.

So, if a Human from the Star Frontiers area of your Galaxy breached the Unknown Regions, the Humans of the Star Wars region would be astounded by his 200 year lifespan. :)

The homeworld of the Vrux and Humans was never established in Star Frontiers. That mystery is solved - Vratix and Human colonists migrated into the Unknown Regions from their original homeworlds in the Star Wars region, eons ago, which also explains a divurgence in evolution (longer lifespan for Humans, evolvement of more legs for the Vrux from the original Vratix).

Well a standard year can be different depending on what planet you are from or on or go by. So things change. Gotta love RPG math.
