are you willing to do it all online with Skype and Roll20 app? I'm from south central Michigan and I run a game that way now, I might be able to fit another one in.

How many people do you have? I just started a game with 3 players (plus me as GM). We are playing in Livonia every other Wednesday night. Not sure if we will stay in Livonia long term (we have played in Troy in the past).
I think we would rather do it in person.
There has been 5 (including me) who have said they want to try it. I don't think any of us has any experience will roleplaying.
Livonia and Ypsilanti seems to be the only place people are actually playing any of the new games (card game, x-wing and roleplaying). That is a hike from Troy, almost 45 minutes each way, and almost an hour from me in Sterling Heights.
Don't know if many would agree to go to Livonia
I can understand the travel issue. We have been dealing with that in our group as well. Our group is pretty spread out (Clarkston, Troy, Auburn Hills, and Downriver) and for the last two years we have been playing in Troy. However the guy's place we were playing at doesn't have time to play right now so we have moved (possibly temporarily) to Livonia. I am not aware of a place to play around Troy right now. I prefer a public place instead of having someone host since if that person can't make a game then we need to cancel or find an alternative place to play. If you are aware of any places around Troy to play then that would probably work better for my group as well.
Earlier I send a Facebook message to what appeared to be the main guy for the R2-Detroit group (not sure if that was you) but I will try to get in contact with that group to see if anyone is wanting to join my group.

We have our regular meetings at the Panera Bread across from Oakland Mall in Troy. Its been OK for that but don't think it is big enough for doing a roleplaying game. I will think of other places in the area that might be better. I know there are 2 gaming stores by me in Sterling Heights, but I don't know if that is any better or worse for you and the others than Troy.

hey. What is going on with your roleplaying group? Where are you meeting now? We are still really interested in starting a group for R2-Detroit, just don't have any (ANY) experience in roleplaying and people want to play but not to GM.
