This is my first dive into the roleplaying pool, so this may be a stupid question. Sorry if it is.

Does anything happen (is there any benefit) when the same skill is listed under career skill and speciation bonus skill?

example... Colonists have the Charm skill, and Charm is also a Politico bonus career skill.

does this have some kind of advantage, like cheaper to train or something? or is it just treated as a redundancy and the same as just having it listed once?

The advantage is that at chargen, you can pick it twice--once when you pick a free rank for your career and once when you pick a free rank for specialization. That way you could get the starting cap of 2 ranks in a career-important skill for free and spend any left over starting experience on characteristics or other skill ranks, talents, etc.
