Hello All - this is my first post (and coincidentally my first foray in to table top Roleplaying). I've been reading the boards for a couple of days and I haven't been able to find the answer to my question. My question deals with some online etiquette as, I've realized, most of my rolepalying will most likely be done over the internet (message boards, skype, etc.) and I'm not sure some of the standard operating procedures for online RPing. In addition, I'm yet to start the beginner adventure due to lack of people to play with.
1. I've had experienced with Message Board based RPs and the one's that involve active combat/rolls were handled by the GMs, is this typically the case with EotE? Is the GM responsible for NPC and PC rolls, or do PCs typically roll for themselves and let the GM know what their roll is? Obviously everyone is on the honor system, but I'm just trying to get a general consensus of what everyone is doing.
2. The reason I most likely will find myself playing online often, is due to having a full-time job and having booked weekends (family time/things to do around the house). For players in my similar situation, what have you done to be able to get a little bit of rolepalying time in? Does skype work? Does jumping on a Campaign message board style, where sessions are stretched over the day (I can get posts in every couple of hours in at work) work? I'm familiar with Message Board based RPs and feel like they easily fit into a busy schedule, but I'm not sure how the experience is in EotE.
Thanks for your input! I'm excited to start playing!
