Got a play group of 5 or so players. Sharing a single card pool. Casual/fun level. Got 2 starters and working on all the deluxe expansions. Are there any particular chapter packs to start with? Ones that would be used in the majority of decks? Or should we just buy any packs, one cycle at a time

I'd recommend trying the Brotherhood without Banners, it has a little sub-theme for each house that gets some reasonably good support. Tourney of Champions or Beyond the Narrow Sea cycles are also heavily house-based (few neutrals)-- they all have a variety of powerful cards for all houses.

The cycles like Defenders of the North and Maesters revolve around (primarily) a Neutral theme that can slot well in any house, but then you'll all be competing for the same cards to try them out.
