What's the next sourcebook you want?

By torquemadaza, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

What sourcebook do you really want next for Edge of the Empire?

For me, it's a "monster manual". It's relatively easy to make up enemies from the intelligent species, but a little bit trickier and time consuming making up the some of the wondrously diverse creatures that inhabit the Star Wars universe.

I've had to make a tra'cor, monnok, druyza, mutriok and tailring for the groups sojourns on Socorro and let me just say, it's all petty much a big ol' thumb suck. :) be really great to get some "monsters".

What next book would you want to see?

All the class splat books. At once. All together.

That's a tough one, there's several I'd like to see. Perhaps a book of ships, or Alien Races.

I'd take a "monster manual". I hope this doesn't follow the 40k model and we're knee deep into FaD still waiting on the Colonist supplement, but I have a sneaking suspicion that's what were in for. I'll be happy to eat crow if 5 more career supplements come out before AoR :)

Actually I like how they're doing it with Beyond the Rim, a combo of galactic geography, career modifiers, probably some creatures, ships, etc, and adventure hooks. I'd rather they do that than a book of one thing like "monsters" or "ships". It also gives them more flexibility to explore a region or time period. After Force and Destiny I'd hope they're able to dive into the Clone Wars, Old Republic, etc.

I'll point out that such a product line (similar to their Black Crusade strategy) makes it harder to keep track of which book a given species, piece of gear, or planet was placed in. And, since we won't be getting pdfs, it also means more to carry around. I'll buy either way, but there are disadvantages to the combo platter approach.

Yeah, but they'll probably sell each title more consistently, and that means the game will be around longer.

It might work for the seller, but there are going to some times where I don't want a book full of stuff in unlikely to use just go get a few gems out of it.

If you mean which Class book would I like to see next, I'd have to say Technician - just so we can have more items and ships to mod, not to mention more mods, and building/modyfing rules.. well, more guidelines really.

If you mean other ideas.. well, I'll keep dreaming of Ship portfolios.. more ship manufacturer ones anyways. Equal parts ship guide, blueprints, and modification options geard towards a particular line of ships, such as the YT series.

The next sourcebook I want is the one with how to play the Jedi. :)

If you're asking about a class: Hired Gun, maybe Colonist. I could care less about Technician, and we've seen so much of bounty hunters and smugglers in previous editions that I'd just like to see something new. If Hired Guns are getting their own book, I'll be curious to see how it differs from bounty hunting.

If it were a Jedi splatbook (as opposed to Force & Destiny) then I'd be interested in how to roleplay the Jedi in the vein of the WEG books instead of anything to do with the prequels. :P

What next book would you want to see?

I thought WEG's galaxy guide model worked really well. 1 was characters from New Hope, 2 was Bespin and Yavin, 3 was Empire, 4 was Aliens, 5 was Jedi, 6 was Tramp Freighters, 7 was Mos Eisly, 8 was scouts, 9 was a mish-mash of items (AKA fragments from the rim) and so on. They werent very big - 80 pages or so - but they did well at focusing their subject matter. So I'll take something like that!

I want the Bounty Hunter splat book next, mainly because that's what I'm playing right now.

Selfish bastard, I know.

The thing is, what exactly could FFG be putting out besides "more specific gear, planetary vehicles and starships, and more Talents" that you couldn't already find in the Bounty Hunters book(s) from WEG? They're... spectacularly detailed, right down to having a copy of Bossk's Imperial Peace Keeping Certificate (seriously).

Hutts hutts and more hutts!

Hike!

Crank out the Career books more quickly. I think the books of Starships, Gear, etc. should be held towards the end when the game is dying since all of the books before them will have entries of Starships, Gear, etc. spread throughout them.

The Career books ARE the sourcebooks in my opinion. They are like the Galaxy Guides of WEG. Spread throughout them will/should be more specialties, gear, vehicles, starships, races, creatures, etc. If this game lives through it's life cycle (I hope so) we are looking at 12 Career books even before we get to whatever classes may be in Force & Destiny. I can't see anymore sourcebooks/supplements then that.

When the game has had its run, I would appreciate Vehicle, Gear, Race, etc books that combines the materials from all of the other books.

Force & Destiny :D:P

(just to be clear, this is not even remotely meant to be taken seriously)

I'd like to see a starship companion, of a similar vein to WotC's two Starships of the Galaxy sourcebooks (one for OCR, one for Saga Edition), with a broad selection of starship types (running the gamut from one-man fighters to bulk transports) as well as suggestions on how to design your own starships, perhaps even a "build" system similar to OCR SotG that allows players to build their own ships from scratch.

I've also in the beta forums proposed the idea of a galaxy hopper series of boxed sets. Basically a kit that has a purely fluff book detailing a something like Cloud City and other items of note on Bespin, or even a sector or section of space such as the Hapes Consortium. Then a nice big adventure taking place on the aforementioned setting/place peppered with maps.

Basically a book that could cater to non gamers as well (the fluff book) and detailed stats and adventure stuff. All in a nice package.

My top three sourcebooks are below. But what I most want is adventure modules that include game content beyond the adventure. Please include new creatures, equipment, NPCs, starships, etc in the adventure modules. There are many games for which I never bought the modules because all they were was canned adventures. Including the material from e adventures in later sourcebooks such as those below would be just fine by me.

Wildlife of the Galaxy: Game stats for plants, animals etc, plus rules guidelines for creating your own. This seems lacking in the game at present.

Aliens: Thousands of species in the galaxy and we have a dozen? And that dozen is only if you count AoR beta. The core book even mentions creating your own aliens so how about some guidelines?

Starships and Vehicles: A big one. I would roll ground and water vehicles in with Starships simply because so many of the rules and modification options are going to be much the same. With AoR including the option for a large vehicle as a base this one may wait till then.

A "monster manual" would be great.

Yep, Basically expanded Scum and Villainy

This is exactly what I was thinking. A book for weird alien monsters and environments, another book for intelligent alien PCs and NPCs, and a third book about spaceships and vehicles - each with rules and guidelines for creating your own.

The Star Wars universe s big enough that no sourcebook can really be comprehensive, which is why I think it would be really valuable for GMs and players to have solid guidelines for creating their own stuff.

Hutts hutts and more hutts!

The first time I read th is post I thought it said "Butts butts and more butts!"

As long as it's not Hutt butts!

Besides the splat books, I'd like to see the following:

• Ship Codex & Build Guide: Basically a catalog of other ships (maybe with each book broken down by size/classification of ship) with advanced rules on how to modify them (with new mods also). Maybe toss in a few extra talents here and there that center around ships, or maybe a few neat NPCs.

• The Edge of the Empire Guide to Imperials: A book on the Empire with a bevy of NPCs, ships and gear. Included would be variant Stormtroopers, Inquisitors, and possibly Emperor's Hands. Maybe also include advice for creating Imperial foes and give some important members of the Empire (such as Vader, Tarkin, etc.).

• Classic Collection v1: A collection of older adventures converted over to the new system. I would especially like to see Tattooine Manhunt in this.

• Foes of the Galaxy: A collection of critters and criminals that could be used in a EotE campaign. Included in this book would be such mainstays as Jabba the Hutt, Boba Fett, Jodo Kast, Greedo, and Zardra, as well as stats for Mynocks, Dewbacks, etc. I would also like to see a monster generator in the book.

• Elrood: A full blown campaign using the Elrood sector. Stats for the races within the sector and significant NPCs.

• Planet Guides: I'd love to see detailed planet guides built like informative brochures. Each would detail the planet, with significant NPCs and races given write-ups and maybe include an adventure. First up, I'd really like to see Nar Shadda (technically a moon, but still...).
