The Edge of Empire Bibliography (from other companies)

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

The problem with a brand new system? Not a lot of support material - now we all know it's coming, but for the moment I've been going through my old game books from WEG and WotC, looking for ideas and themes and whatnot for life on the outer rim. I though compile an essential non-FFG bibliography

* Galaxy Guide 6: Tramp Freighters - Hands down the best book WEG ever put out. You *NEED* this book. Period, full stop.

* Secrets of the Sisar Run - Loads of game ideas for a Tramp Freighter crews getting caught up in the machinations of Black Sun.

* Galaxy Guide 11: Criminal Organizations - Set in the Dark Empire era, so it'll need a touch of retooling, but still some solid information

* Scum and Villainy - Not quite as useful as the WEG supplements, since about half the book is full of game mechanics that don't translate at all to EotE, but it's got some good game ideas in it.

* The Unknown Regions - Again, about 50% useless and 50% relevant, but get it if you can find it cheap enough.

* Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds - The one that thing WEG is lacking is details on new movie material (for obvious reasons). Not a great book, but it's good some good stuff in it.

So - what books have you guys found useful?

Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim: A great guide for flavor on the outer rim. It has foods, sports teams, organizations, cocktails, etc.

West End had a lot of other great sourcebooks full of information. Some of it has since been rendered obsolete by books and movies that have been put out since they were released, but even so the sources are really good. Heck, a lot of what is now Star Wars canon was made up by WEG. I don't have my books in front of me, so can't recall any other names off the top of my head. Many of them can still be found for pretty cheap, or even in PDF form if you look.

If you see something in a WEG that you like, cross-reference it with Wookieepedia in case it was retconned (i.e. the Super-class Star Destroyer)... but even if it's been retconned, Rule Zero still applies. :D

A bunch of them are absolutely fantastic game ideas for EotE, not least since both systems were both made with the Original Trilogy in mind and without (WEG due to preceding, EotE due to intentional disregarding) a bunch of the EU, although of course WEG would go on to cover much of it too.
