How about a Wave 4 completely uninformed speculation thread

By SheepDog, in X-Wing

I had not heard of the Crow until it was annouced for wave 3. Only hardcore computer gamers requinized it and don't even get me started on the scale thing. It seems to me that FFG had a particular set of requirements for a ship and then they searched until thay found one that fit the build. Wave 4 could be all over the place with them trying to fill particular roles required in the game.

According to wikipedia, the first game in the series (DARK FORCES) alone sold 952,000 copies. So it's not that obscure of a ship. I'm not a "hard core" computer gamer, though I am a pretty big SW nerd. I recognized the ship right away.

I really don't think that FFG chose this ship just because it fits the scale. That would be an awful risk.

I'd personally like to see more X-wings. Perhaps the XJ7.

Dark Forces was both a landmark FPS and Star Wars game. If you were alive in the '90s and a fan of either of those two things, there's really no reason not to recognize the Moldy Crow.

I remember having to fight that lizard thing in the Hutt's dungeon...with fists. Ugh!

I just wanted to say I love the title of this thread! :)

Chiss starfighter: high firepower, no shields.

Tie Droid: No stress or red maneuvers because they're machines. Less agility because droids are stupid.

Tie-y ugly: Pilot cards for both sides

Tie/sr:?

booster card packs. FFG: C3PO needs to be a crew member. He was very helpful in identifying problems on the Falcon in Episode V, maybe he could be turned over to cancel a crit in exchange for stress? Also, Imps had droids too.

Thanks for a great game.

Honestly, just having C-3PO as a crew member should cause stress. He was as annoying as ****.

I mostly feel that the E-Wing is set too far in the future of the series, but upon further inspection I see the introduction is 5-10 ABY which I suppose is doable. First thing I'd do to fix the E-Wing is cut off that stupid laser cannon on the top of it. Overhanging the cockpit with a laser cannon seems like a great way to blind the pilot, plus it just looks terrible. Cut it off, then you have a great looking ship.

Versions of the E-Wing with the blaster/ion turret instead of laser cannon aren't too bad.

After firmly thinking the E-wing was the dumbest thing ever, this almost has me on board. Still, the gunboat has to be there soon. The T-wing might work along with the Z-95 if we're going for cheap Rebel alternatives, though I don't think I saw it anywhere outside of the X-wing games. It also goes with the E-wing in terms of just being a cockpit with engines.

This is not the first thread about this topic.

My guess still is:

Empire gets Tie Defender and Skipray

Rebels get Z-95 and E-wing

My wish would be the VT-49 Decimator though.

Hadn't seen it before but that Decimator is pretty cool. A ship with a turret might combine pretty nicely with a small group of Ties for closing up a small asteroid field.

Speak of the devil, just got my HWK-290 today... and she is sexy . I'm having a total nerdgasm over here.

Edit: Wow. I don't think it came with enough focus tokens.

I'm not really up to speed on table top gaming trade shows and conventions, but FFG likes to announce new products at such events. What's the next plausible show that FFG would like to reveal the wave 4 ships at?

Depending on when the actual release date target would be, I'd think World Championship Weekend could be a fairly likely time for the announcement of Wave 4.

I get mine Thursday, along with a B-Wing. Looking forward to using them at some point.

No one has said it yet: Ginivex-class starfighter . The Fanblades

A tie with a single shield and a larger firing arc and 1-2 badazz named pilots. Would love them...

I'm an imperial fan so Defender, phantom, and tie droid are all on my list too (droids for major swarms!). Rebels should see the headhunter, another medium sized ship W/O turrent, and a x wing mod. Maybe even a "closed" x wing sculpt and just more x wing pilot cards.

Some other ships that I thought would be interesting to see:

Jumpmaster 5000, the Punishing One flown by Dengar.

G-1A Starfighter, the Mist Hunter flown by Zuckuss and 4-LOM

Both ships are small enough to fit 1/270 scale. Both Dengar and Zuckuss could fly with either a rebel or imperial squad.

What? The Tri-lateral symmetry makes this one of the prettiest fighters in Star Wars! If you want Ugly find the TIE Oppressor. No TIE looks more cobbled together and haphazard than that one.

Hmm... What about the M1.. .the M1 looks far more silly than the oppressor... But in general I agree the Defender is one sexy ship.

Darth Vader: "Who is responsible for ordering the TIE Fighter parts? They have mixed up the numbers of TIE wings and cockpits! I find their lack of brains disturbing!"

Storm trooper M1 345: "My Lord, Let's just stick a gun onto the extra cockpit!"

::force choke::

"Commander, add guns to these.....things..."

I am kinda surprised that none of you guys think that they might go Clone Wars with future waves. I would like to see the ARC, the droid fighters, anakin and obi-wans jedi fighter maybe even the Naboo Starfighter. I have always liked the Naboo fighter a lot.

The Designers said in a Podcast the game is called x-wing and not Clone wars. So no Prequels in the near future

Even if they don't do prequel ships, I wonder if they'll eventually do the ARC-170 . . . it's fairly well established that the ARC was flown by both the Imps and the Rebels during the Civil War . . . and it's a pretty sweet ship, IMO. Here it is in Imp colors:

I'm not so sure we will see Clone War era ships in X-wing, there may be some license issues there. I don't know for a fact what the license agreement is but I have heard it does not include Clone Wars era. I'd like to see them also though.

I'd let the ARC slip through though! I like that design a lot.
