How about a Wave 4 completely uninformed speculation thread

I really like the V-19 as well.. It's a very pretty ship, far nicer than the E-Wing. TBH even though the films were not brilliant, I love a lot of the ship designs and really quite enjoyed the animated series. I wouldn't say no to a separate Clone War release if the point levels were the same, so you could unofficially cross over between the Eras, tbh there isn't a silly number of years inbetween the Clone Wars and the Rebelion, I could see the ARC and V-19 still in use by Pirates and provincial governments.

It would also allow us to have the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor, and the Scimitar Sith Infiltrator.

Wasn't the Delta-7 a starfighter reserved only for use by the Jedi?

Never impressed with any of the original Clone-Wars era starfighters tbh, even the animated series ones. The only ones I'd take away are the Z-95 and the full-covered Y-Wing. I'd rather have the entire range of TIEs available before anything Clone-wars derived.

What? The Tri-lateral symmetry makes this one of the prettiest fighters in Star Wars! If you want Ugly find the TIE Oppressor. No TIE looks more cobbled together and haphazard than that one.

Hmm... What about the M1.. .the M1 looks far more silly than the oppressor... But in general I agree the Defender is one sexy ship.

TIE-M1_XWA.jpg

All the TIE Experimentals were interesting one way or another. I kind of like the M1 here, because of the unorthedox design and the Big Gun. Like other successful TIE designs it feels balanced and doesn't go overboard on mashing a ton of custom parts on to one frame.

Another good example is the TIE Phantom. It doesn't feel like it's mashed together with custom parts even though the whole design is new, based on the YT-1300 cockpit. The Phantom could be an interesting addition to X-Wing because it can bring Cloaking devices into the game.

Yep generally only used for Jedi, but there were plenty around if your doing a separate game for the Clone Wars.

I like the ARC-170. With the rear turrets it would have the same fire arc as the Firespray plus an astromech and a crew member. Also the Alpha-3 Nimbus V-wing fighter. Both of these could work in a rebel or Imperial squad.I guess they may focus on ships with known pilots before looking at more obscure stuff. So far everything offered has at least 1 unique pilot.

Other fighters I would like to see are:

I would love to see a StarViper in this one.

I think Clone Wars should be a separate game.

If clone wars is done I think it'll be with a new core set. Both "games" would use the same FlightPath system but many upgrades would not be cross-compatible. Things like Force abilities or droid programming over Elite Pilot tallents. But warheads and maybe droids would work?

Clone wars isn't completely off the table, given the "Senator's Shuttle" in the Core Set and the "Seismic Charge" for the Firepray-31.

I have also read that X-Wing is Rebellion-era only, but that doesn't eliminate the possibility of a "Clone Wars" game, using the same rules as X-Wing but with ships from the prequel movies.

That might be a better option, so you could buy into the new game if you want, or ignore it entirely if you so choose.

Agree on the Star Viper it would be an awesome change up from all the Ties

ok, lets think rebelion era...........................

ok, that includes shadows of the empire and i beleive the Thrawn trilogy is close enough to be valid.

so, after that, look at the old tie fighter and x-wing PC games.

i think you would have to consider they Prey Bird, Cloak Shape fighter, come on memory work..................

what else was there in this realm of ships?

imperial assault shuttle (that carried space troopers................. SPACE TROOPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a space trooper on a flight stem would be totally awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mini-proton torp, and lasers. this would rock. they would be able to move 1 in any direction with their thrusters!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok, im preordering those now!!!!

Star Wars Rebels is going to blur the era-lines even further.

I want an E-wing, TIE Defender, Z-95, and an Assault Gunboat.

And the Z-95 could have a REALLY nasty feature to make it viable! What if you could apply upgrade cards such as boost/shield upgrades, free of cost? One of the biggest things in EU about the '95, is that every Z-95 is different.

Seriously, think about it. It might be cruddy as a stock ship, but there were some good pilots that flew '95s, and it can definitely carry missiles

Shoot, Mara's had an ion cannon instead of missiles.

There is just SO MUCH YOU CAN DO with a Z-95, and it could REALLY be the answer to the Imperial TIE swarming, as well. Just as cheap, modifiable, and if you don't feel like modifying, deck it out. It'd have more options than the X-wing, but it wouldn't be quite as deadly stock.

But who knows. With stipulations like that, the '95 could compete.

Well to be honest, FFG are going to have to dip into the EU for ships anyways. There are sooo many that would make great additions to this game. We've covered most of them already.

However..........I still want the ARC fighter. It can fit.

I'd love to have the Assault Gunboat and Missile Boat. Both of them would be excellent weapon platforms and have the same survivability as the X-wing (the AG was actually supposed to be analogous to the X-wing anyway). The Missile Boat's SLAM system would be fun to use as well. Think about being able to double your speed immediately with no penalties other than being unable to fire your 1-value primary weapon (it drained your laser batteries in the game). You'd still be left with your missiles, which would be quite extensive. I don't think it would unbalance the game too badly, since the ship was designed to counter the TIE Defender and probably would be released in the same wave.

Hounds Tooth is the ship I'm dying to see. I had a miniature Hounds tooth toy as a kid that I loved, it would be so satisfying to see it playable.

Z-95 Headhunter (not the clone wars version, dear god)

- Lots of Upgrade Options

Cloakshape Fighter

- Cheap Fighter, upgradable

E-Wing

- Advanced Alliance Fighter

K-Wing

- Alliance Heavy Bomber

A-9 Vigilance

- Versatile, either-side fighter

TIE Defender

- BAMF Fighter

Scimitar Assault Bomber

- All the Ammunition!

Skipray Blastboat

- Turrets for the Empire

My opinion:

TIE Defender.

Skipray Blastboat.

YT-2400.

Z-95.

Of those 4, I would think the Outrider is the most likely.

The V-wing is definitely another possibility, since it was shown in Imp colors at the end of ROTS . . . though I'm not sure what it would bring to the game that the TIE doesn't already deliver.

Ohhhh...I got another Dark Empire one. Slave 2? Also, the Tie Drone.

I want to mention something, and then ask a question.

First, I don't like the idea of the z95. Its more that I think rebels should remain the more elite force, and imperials should be more swarmy. If you look at the game mechanics, you have some fairly limited movement options, with only being able to use templates and all. And you have a exactly 4 stats for each ship. I think, after a certain point, if you give the imperials too many elite options, and the rebels too many swarm options, they essentially become the same force, just with different ship names and aesthetics. While I understand rebels can field 5 ships in a game with really basic fighters, and imperials can go as low as 2 if you really tool out firesprays, these lists generally arent as viable as 3-4 ship rebels and 6-7 ship imperials. I think the tie defender is also an issue for this reason. With that being said, if rebels did get a viable swarm build, and imps did get a solid elite fighter list, I wouldn't be particularly bothered by it.

Second, why aren't clone wars ships viable in the rebellion era? I keep hearing that things like the arc 170 would get smashed by tie fighters due to technology and such, why? I remember playing kotor, which takes place 4000 years before this game, and the ships looked and performed in a very similar fashion to current ships. Star wars has like a 20,000 year history, has technology really advanced that much? Plinkett mentioned that the episodes IV-VI are basically World War 2 in space. But the clone wars arent then world war 1. Trying to fight x-wings and ties with droid starfighters and arc 170s cant be like trying to fly a Sopwith Camel against a Messerschmitt BF 109, is it?

Ohhhh...I got another Dark Empire one. Slave 2? Also, the Tie Drone.

Oh baby Jesus, don't type slave 2 into google images...

I also want to see the Tie Predators just because they look cool.

Oh man. I didn't even think of the internet implications of Slave 2. Sorry gang! (or thank you, if you found something interesting)

I'm amazed that almost all of the top line is actually ships for me... What worries me far more is that Justin Beiber comes up 3rd on the list of websites.... ARGH

It sounds like everyone's expecting at least the Z-95 and the TIE Defender.

I'm not very big on the Expanded Universe outside of a couple of key exceptions, so after Wave 3 I've pretty much got everything I want. The only thing I'm hoping for at this point is the Phantom TIE.

Honestly one thing that they should bring to the game is some new Critt cards with some new effects with wave 4...
