Deck Building?

By SetJudgement, in Star Wars: The Card Game

Hey people I have a question. You see all these great threads about deck ideas but my problem is how to build a deck. I'd love to stop using the prebuilt decks and make my own but I don't know how. I think I have an idea, but can some of you explain and help with this please. Details would be great. Thanks.

I'm not exactly sure what you are asking. To make a deck you need to pick a minimum of 10 objective sets (the objective and 5 associated cards) that you think would work well together. If you are looking for deck ideas though there are a few hundred on cardgamedb.

Okay, guess I didn't make that clear. I just don't know how to build my own deck. I'm confused about some stuff. I know I need the 10 objective cards. I then need the cards associated with that specific objective set correct? For example if I choose the objective card Fall of the Jedi, objective set 19, I need the othe 5 cards that go with that correct? The 5 cards part of objective set 19. Also can I use double, for example can I use 2 objective sets 19 in a deck? The other question I have is Can I mix factions? For example I found a nice Sith and Empire combo. But I don;t know if I'm allout to mix the 2 factions. I know I need 1 faction card. So I'd either need Sith or Empire. Does that make more sense? Sorry for being unclear.

as far as the deck building system in star wars goes, it uses objective sets that are made up of 1 objective and 5 other cards that must be used together and can't be separated. the set number is in the bottom right of the cards, followed by a 1-6 of 6.

to give a quick example, the emperor's web is set number 23. so there will be 6 cards that are part of set nu,ber 23. the emperor's web is 1 of 6, emperor palpatine is 2 of 6, emperor's royal guard is 3 of 6, sith library is 4 of 6, force lightning is 5 of 6 and force choke is 6 of 6, all being set 23 (all of which will be in the bottom right corner)

as far as actually building a deck to play with, that depends on your playstyle, what factions you like etc etc. Navy tends to be aggressive and attacks the LS objectives frequently, Sith is all about control, and scum is somewhat of a mixed bag of control and tricks. as for the LS, jedi is all about the heroes and enhancing them to be very powerful, it also has some control as well, Rebels are similar in nature to navy, they are very aggressive, with lots of blast damage, and smugglers and spies have lots of tricks to manipulate the game.

you can and usually will mix factions. you tend to get more powerful, and versatile decks by "splashing" in a second faction. technically, you can run a 3 faction deck, but its HIGHLY un-recommended. when you run multiple factions, you always want to choose the affiliation card of the smaller faction in your deck, and you generally don't want to run a split of more than 6/4. 6 sith sets, and 4 navy sets for example, and you would run the navy affiliation in this example)

From the rulebook page 28, 'Any objective set may be included twice in a constructed deck unless its objective card states “limit one per objective deck.”'

And you can mix factions, provided that they are of the same side (all are LS or all are DS), even those neutral sets belong to one side or the other.

Thanks. So far this is really helping.

Just be aware that when you mix affiliations, you still have to follow the rules for Resource Matching on pg 16 of the rulebook.

So for your Sith/Navy deck, if you only have Sith Objectives in play and you only draw Navy cards for your hand, you won't be able to pay for any of those cards.

But if you have a mixed affiliation deck, the affiliation you have the least objective sets of should be your main affiliation. Also, you should have other cards that give you resources so you're not just stuck getting them from objectives.
