YT-1930 Deckplan

By Emperor Norton, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I do deckplans sometimes in Illustrator because I have a dislike for most official deckplans. I think they tend to be either too complicated or too moronic (we don't need to go to the refresher, honest).

Anyway, here is a deckplan for a YT-1930 , I was making it for my group and I thought someone else might be interested in how it turned out. (Its vectored, so you can zoom in and out as much as you want).

(Dropboxes viewer screws up the drop shadow effect. Looks best to open it with a dedicated viewer.)

This is a really nice deckplan. My players have been looking at modified YT-1300 deckplan for awhile. I was wondering, are you available for commissions? Please let me know and thanks.

If you have any others, I'm sure the community (read "I") would make great use of them. Keep up the great work!

The YT-1300 was pretty far down on my list of ships to do, mostly because I get bored of seeing the same ship 80 times. But, I'll see if I can throw it in at some point. (Ghtroc 720 is probably my next one, because I have a strange affection for the flying space turtle).

Honestly, as far as commissions, I just wouldn't take them. The work I do isn't really difficult, its a bit time consuming, but most of it is just cut and pasting pieces I made after outlining an existing overhead shot of a ship and making boxes to cut out the interior after I created the base pieces (and the base pieces are based on the deckplans stuff in the Revised D20 Starships of the galaxy book).

Though another thing is I tend to cater the design to the players I have. Like for instance, in this game we have four pcs, that is why there are 4 private quarters. In the final design for my game there is actually a slight difference, the bunk in the room closest to the ramp is bigger, as I thought our Wookie character might not like a 2m bunk.

So if someone WANTS to request a ship, tell me the ship you want, what kind of stuff you want it to contain (how many private quarters, double quarters vs large crew quarters), any special rooms you can think of, stuff like that. I won't make any promises, but I might pick up one or two I find interesting.

Great stuff! Definitely plan to steal espeically if you do a Firespray (Slave I). My family group uses that as their Sector Rangers ship and some of the decks I've seen online are... underwhelming.

I'll tell you, and this is just me being really stupid, but I've had this weird urge to map out an entire small capital ship. Like a Corellian Corvette. It would take forever though, and a lot of it would be BORING. (Crew quarters number 35).

And man, I keep thinking about doing the Firespray but it is a WEIRD ship to try and map because of the orientation stuff.

LOL Ain't gonna lie, that does sound boring BUT I'd love to see the final result if you ever do it.

If you wanted to take a crack at cleaning up any of the ships from this site I'd appreciate it:

I particularly am interested in the Hounds Tooth ( http://www.colonialchrome.co.uk/Ships/Unique/U_KDY_666_Hounds_Tooth.html

) and/or its generic version ( http://www.colonialchrome.co.uk/Ships/Generic/G_KDY_666.html ) and the Republic Consular Cruiser ( http://www.colonialchrome.co.uk/Ships/Generic/G_CEC_CR-0710_Consular.html )

The deck plans themselves are nice, but they're cluttered and hard to read sometimes. It's also frustrating that all the cargo bays are depicted full.

Your YT-1930 is much cleaner, though I wouldn't mind some notations as to what some of the rooms and objects are. Many are obvious but not all.

Well, if you were doing basic floorplans and not the complete mapping (pipes, wires, conduits, etc...), then that is where things like instances in AutoCAD come in really handy. You model the thing once, and then place it via instances whereever you need that particular thing.

Very nice! Thanks!

Very nice indeed. Would love to see the citadel.

Aha, I did forget to leave a key didn't I?

The only things that can possibly be a little nonobvious though I can explain really fast, I'll put a key on it at some point:

The things in the quarters that aren't chairs, bunks, desks, or terminals are some form of storage/wardrobes. basically standing closets. The things that are in the engine room in the upper right and in the galley and escape pod are more simple cabinet/lockers for storage. The ones in the Engine room are filled with tools/spare parts/components. in the galley is food supplies, in the escape pod, obviously there are survival rations and such.

Are there any other symbols that aren't obvious? (I'm going to make a key, just wanted to go ahead and clear up the ones that I know aren't as obvious).

Whoa, nice work. I would like to put in a request for a YV-100. lol
